I wonder why this market is so bad but Dallas isn’t bad for the Cowboys, LA for the Lakers, New York for the Yankee/Knicks, Boston for any of their teams. But somehow this market is just so bad it makes the players so badPeople are crying about Marner throwing gloves. He isn’t the first and won’t be the last to. This market is insufferable. Every thing is over analyzed, everything is made a big deal. It’s a small but overlooked part to why the players suck ass and can’t overcome the pressure. Most of it is on the players, you’re paid a shit ton of money and you need to produce. But the fans and the media are obsessed with negativity and love piling on.
Every polarizing player who leaves the leafs has been able to find success and eventually win a cup. There’s something about this market that affects players. It’s becoming more and more clear.

I kept saying most of the night, he should have been benched early in this game. I'd bench him until he's traded. He's an absolute blight on the ice for us, I've wanted him gone for almost a decade now....(on Marner) this is just pathetic, he hasn't won a battle all season long.x.com

He will go to a team that is properly constructed with the cap properly spent. Nothing will ever fix the absolutely asinine build of giving 50% of the cap to 4 soft forwards. It’s one of the most flawed build ever. And just like everyone else he’ll go and win a cup and be effective else where lol. At some point us fans will realize this market is just not easy to win in. The proof is in the pudding. Why can players go else where and elevate?
Sucks Marner couldnt figure it out here but it’s best to get him out of this market

Individualy each of the core 4 brings some sort of value to a team but collectively they are over paid and unworkable

Agree to an extent on the passive guysThis isn’t even cap related. It’s player type related. You have 5 passive guys. This model probably works if you have a guy like Point or MacKinnon or Pasternak but we don’t have a killer
I’d cry too. All he had to do was show up and him and his daddy Paul could get 13m but now that he’s been so dog shit yet again in a contract year, he might lose 2-3 million per season. Poor Mitch. We have more moments of Marner crying in the playoffs than series wins
Keefe is about to be unemployed anyways. I’d stick Reeves or Robertson in Marner’s place. They couldn’t be worse and he has nothing to lose. The point that would make, stapling that crybaby quitter to the bottom 6 would be priceless. But Shanahan is gonna demand they pay Paul Marner and his son 13m per yearI kept saying most of the night, he should have been benched early in this game. I'd bench him until he's traded. If he shows up in the playoffs like Rantanen, Drai, Barkov and even Point. His contract would be a bargain. It does make me sad how all of this has played out. Marner had it on a silver platter to be one of the most popular Leafs of all time. Hometown kid, good energy plays on both sides of the puck. Then he decided money was more important then winning and the relationship with the fans in this market has and will never be the same again.
