Mitch Marner, Yet Again

gonna need a few importance of contribution to goal breakdowns @Antropovsky
None of these plays contradict my main points on Marner. He doesnt go into dirty areas (corners, front of net) and he floats around open areas waiting for Matthews and Knies to do all the dirty work. Also, take note that he actually kinda went into a corner...thats a rarity for Marner and no doubt in part Berube was pissed (and fans) about the teams pathetic battle yesterday. This is the Marner way and ive said it repearedly this season, he avoids contact until the coach gets on him and then he makes "a little" more of an effort to go to the dirty areas. But he has to be forced. If it was up to him he definitely wouldnt do it. We all know this.

I expect him to put up points with Knies and Matthews.

The test is the playoffs...when hitting ramps up. Lets all watch Marner very closely during playoffs for his physical play and willingness to battle in the dirty areas.

Look my mind is made up on Marner... hes had 5 years since his contract. I dont care what he does in his contract year...and certainly these plays dont move the needle. Just more of the same ways he produces.

Keefe called a special meeting a few years ago, despite being in 1st, because he wanted more dirty area goals, playoff goals....

He wasnt jumping up and down saying good job boys we are in 1st. He knew that playoffs require dirty areas and Marner doesnt have that in him.

@francis246 why are you laughing? Did you ever respond to my post showing the 7 videos of Marner mailing it in, in the playoffs? Including the two videos of intermissions where Hrudey and Biz said Marner sucks and is playing with no heart? I asked you and the rest of the Marner gang to respond to those videos but it went radio silent.

11 million dollars wasted on the ice. Damn maybe we could've won a few rounds or even had a finals appearance if we had spent all that money on players willing to sacrifice to win?

I can quote my post for you, and bump it...if you still wanted to respond to what you thought about Marners efforts in those replays?

Hell...because i know you want to respond here are the replays of playoff Marner. Let us know your thoughts on his efforts in these games @francis246 because you seemed to have missed these posts last time. Specifically let us all know how these lazy ass plays didn't effect the team and wouldn't have effected the teams chances of winning:

Haha as a player and a coach.

This is a player who wouldn't be on my tteam.its not a hard decision either. And for 13% of the cap, this player will single handedly put you out of the playoffs.

@Leaf Fans , @Metroid , @francis246 , @Hellcat
@Smif

Got a few more doozies for you! I know you guys can spot a winner, because i apparently dont know ehat playing with heart and determination looks like and certainly can't spot a winner.

Few more plays to discuss:

Didn't Marner fans admit Marner also was very bad in game 3 vs Florida?

What about this widely talked about play vs Montreal where Marner let's Montreal get the puck because he's afraid to get hit? Tons of heart right... what an animal doing whatever it takes to win!

What about YEARS later vs Boston where he was caught doing it again but only even worse? Didn't Marner fans try to say it was smart lol that he dodge the hit and let Boston get the puck and easily clear the zone. Yep! The heart and determination ! Anyone whose played a sport would know that was what winners do!

So two replays of Marner literally gifting loose pucks to opponents. Hmm yea, who cares right, we didn't need those possessions! We can get the next ones!

Seeing a pattern yet? All these years of replays of Marner mailing it in and Marner fans are saying IM the one who isnt a leaf fan?

I find your posts hilarious and clown behaviour.

Everyone is tired of your shit, so no ones going to respond to put a battery in your back. Going back and forth with you is exhausting and useless, we ain’t ever going to see eye to eye.

Let’s go leafs! Hopefully they go on a great run and Marner resigns so you can disappear into the abyss!!!

You are very sensitive about this topic, yet you keep dodging the question. If defending Marner is so easy, why avoid it over and over?

Your silence says it all.

Pathetic efforts that even his biggest supporters cant justify.

.. ill continue to remind everyone that you refuse to comment on these plays.

jokes on you.

You clearly do lol. You get so upset whenever I ask you to comment on these highlights of his pathetic play. Why is it so hard for you to comment. Marner is amazing... it should be easy for you to justify these plays.

Go on tell us. Avoiding talking about it doesnt mean the plays didnt happen.

When Bozo The Keefe called the double top secret special meeting, did he tell the players to just breathe or did he talk about getting respect in the handshake line?

Leafs win a crucial game 4-3 to pretty much lock up their first division title in a quarter century - - the COVID joke divisions don’t count.

Marner is in on THREE (3) of Toronto’s FOUR (4) goals but some Leaf “fans” want to criticize him for not making an accurate clearing pass and only blocking one shot.

It’s as laughable as the kooks who used to criticize Gretzky back in the mid 80’s and complain that he was too soft.

Just embarrassing themselves.

Playoffs only matter. He keeps failing in that area. Nobody cares about this or if he hits 103pts and wants to be paid like 130pts players.

Success or set sail Mitch

Apples to Apples, Kucherov vs Marner. Kucherov the better passer (possibly best in the league) and a much more dangerous shooter.

According to Naturalstat trick. This season 5v5 Kucherov has the following more than Marner:
- 50% more goals
- 21% more primary assists
- 55% more shots
- 36% more individual scoring chances
- 36% more individual high danger scoring chances

Across the board he is no match for Kucherov.

He's 5th in overall scoring. Might break 100. Hard to make a case against him.

The case against him is his cap demands.

If he wanted the Reinhart/Kucherov/M. Tkachuk/Eichel/Barkov/Point/Guentzel contract, the Leafs would sign him today.

Unfortunately, he wants to be paid higher than the people above him. He wants to be top 2 or 3 in NHL AAV - and that's all players, not just forwards.

Maybe, I will wait until 666 checks your claim.

Every player you listed plays in a tax free state and signed a long time ago. Those aren't good examples at all.

You have 7 videos of him mailing it in?

Two "analysts" were critical of him?

Ground breaking stuff, this changes everything...

Can you imagine if he tried in the playoffs?

He already outproduces everyone on the team, he probably would outproduce everyone in the league.

After another great game from Mitch, we're still pretending he should earn 9 million next year?

Anyone who thinks he doesn’t deserve a raise is crazy. He’s an elite winger and should get elite winger money.

The only real question is whether or not we can continue with the current team makeup. I’ve said for years that we cant build a well-rounded roster with both Marner and Nylander making top dollar, and that hasn’t changed.
