Player Discussion Mitch Marner, Yet Again

This latest inside intel (probably not true) that he is waiting to see how the playoffs go before deciding if he will return is pretty hysterical, ok bud..

The only real information we have is what we were privy to last off season. Though limited, seemed like the best bet was Leafs had no intention of making an offer through the season.

Assuming that's the case unless anything credible is released to the contrary.

Letting him walk is bad asset management sign him and trade him to a team who believes in the koolaid
I agree — the key is getting him to sign a new contract without a no-move clause. You could offer him more money to waive it, maybe something around $14 +million per year, but at that price, who’s going to want him? He’s got us backed into a corner right now, and unfortunately, I doubt we end up getting anything for him.

Why is that hysterical? We know for a fact that post Boston series there were a number of teams that reach out to Toronto to see if they could acquire him.

He’s also been getting his back kicked in by fans year after year. At some point you get sick and tired of that shit. No amount of money/childhood dreams is worth coming back and dealing with it.

Marner is going to have plenty of suitors in UFA. I don’t think he’s going to get a. 14 mill per year contract but he can go to a good team if he wants. He’s in his prime and players like him don’t often hit the market. The only thing we’ve heard is contrary to what you’re saying. The leafs want to sign him and Marner wants to be leaf. But if the playoffs don’t work out I think it’s perfectly reasonable for both the player and team to agree that it’s just not working here.

Hes a great player but he’s replaceable the same as the rest

Untill rogers takes the extra seats on the MSLE board shanahan will never move on from the core

According to Kypreos:
"The fact is, Marner's no-movement clause makes this situation rather easy to understand. After many failed spring playoff attempts, only a deep post-season run can give management a shot at re-signing him this off-season. Another early playoff exit and Marner is as good as gone."
Oh, the great Limp Dykreos. The last time this guy broke anything was Grant Fuhr.

Now this, this is hysterical. Just recently Marner talked about how he's treated like a god here, does that sound like something that's hard to deal with?

I’m not so sure that’s true, look at the jays. Rogers is willing to walk away from both vlad and Bichette.. i have my theories on ed rogers…
Well vladdy was offered good money
Bichette might be a blessing if he goes
Rogers went aftrr ohtani bergman etc
Im sure if ted rogers finds out mcdavid wants to leave edmonton no one will beat his offer

Don’t want to turn it to Jay’s talk haha but they completely botched Vlad negotiations . You can’t tip your hand that you have between 500-700 mill available for star players then turn around and refuse to pay your best player and home grown talent his number. You lose all leverage doing that and piss the player off too. They should have taken care of his contract years ago when the number was lower instead of going to arbitration.

Sheesh that narrative switches a lot eh?

One day I read that the Marner "haters" are such a small subsection of fans that nobody pays attention to them and now today I'm reading these meanie fans are directly driving Marner away from Toronto.

Did anyone say that or do believe it was implied?
