Agreed. I still don't get the hype around Bennett. He'd be in the box or suspended all the time if he played for Toronto. Even assuming he cleaned up his act, that takes away the only thing that stands out about him (injuring opponents intentionally) and then you have a 7-8 million dollar who tops out at < 50 points as a player.
He’s a beast in the playoffs and that’s what you’re paying for. Remember what he did to Knies and Marchand ? Marchand used to do that to the Leafs and no Leaf would answer the bell. This team doesn’t need 80 point regular season players as much as they need players who will go through a wall to win in the playoffs. Whatever Bennett’s market value is they should pay it. The cap is going up so cap space won’t be an issue.

The moment Bennett does that shit in Toronto he’s getting the book handed to him and I don’t understand how people are blind to it.

We saw it with Kadri, we saw it Bunting, we saw it with Spezza, We saw it with Reaves, we saw with other guys. You can’t play with that edge here, the moment you try it’s a suspension. Any advantage you think you’re getting with Bennett is going to be neutralized. So then you’re left paying a premium for a guy who isn’t going to be allowed to play the way that makes him effective and he can’t score more than 50 points.

But your not explaining your thought process. Probably because you have realized you cant explain it..because it makes no sense.

What else could he mean? Marner isn't short. So that would only mean weight is the issue. But if it has nothing to do with strength... than how would a lack of weight be a problem?
A buddy of mine met Marner at a wedding. Said he was a nice guy but a rake. Couldn’t believe how skinny he was.

He’s been no show expect for one game a series in the playoffs. He doesn’t take over games like the other stars but we’ve been paying him like one. I am not a fan of Marner at his cap hit but if he gets hate for not showing up in playoffs Matthews should too.
It's so weird that so many just turn into ostriches because of the "goals scored," where are those "goals scored" when it matters, nowhere.

So far in 4 Nationa

Marner 3gp 1G 0A 1pts

Matthews 3gp 0G 1A 1pts

And the big boy may not play in the final

It's somehow familiar

So I guess he didn’t try to make a defensive line which would make sense cause they weren’t really out there protecting a lead so he fell from top line to third line cause of performance

Yeah so for the purpose of this team and tournament he doesn't feel Mitch is a complete enough player to be in the top 6. He said he needed worker bees to help complete his game. They served the purpose we all saw and he like what he sees from that line. I imagine that means we will see it again Thursday.

In Leaf language. Not a 13m player but a good complimentary piece.

That's the Team Canada coaches assessment and I trust it better then the MLSE evaluation.

The big boy also has had a nagging injury all year and sat out the last game due to injury.

That is not what Cooper said.

Literally exactly what he said. I just interpreted it for you
No, what he said was:
"
When you come to these tournaments, and you have no exhibition or pre-games, you are thrown into the fire. You have to see what works. We have done a little dabbling, and after the U.S. game, we had two games under our belts. We had a pretty good feeling about where the pieces fit into the puzzle. Fortunately, it worked out for us yesterday. All of the lines fit.

Cirelli and Hagel play a different brand of game than Mitch, but they both need each other. Mitch needs them, and they need Mitch. He can create for them. They are the worker bees, and he is the one who kind of organizes things in the offensive zone.

Sometimes, you get labeled a checker. Sometimes, you get labeled a scorer. But they need each other. I thought the line was great."

You didn't interpret - the meaning was, and still is, clear. You tried to spin what he said to make it palatable to your preexisting bias.

The thing about Bennet is though he wasn't this always crazy. Same with Josh Anderson. Apparently Josh never fought in juniors or his early year in NHL. Then one fine morning he decided to be a total D**** towards everybody

We just need to find out what they were mixing in their pre-workout

I have zero interest in Bennett. Likeable player, I love old school player, but he's going to want to hit a home run with that contract. His style is always one injury away, one knockout away from being totally ineffective
Josh tuned Tom Wilson in a fight in junior. Anderson had a reputation much like Brandon Prust with the Knights. You’d asked for it and quickly regret asking.

It means exactly what I said. He did not fit with the elite players. He needed different types of players. Worker bee players to help him (because he struggled)

You know you can read between the lines with what he is saying super easy.

If you need worker bees. You are not a complete player. You need worker bees to make it work.

You follow lol

Add. This also confirms our groups analysis that MM can not drive a line.

He didn't mention anyone struggling. He did mention fitting the pieces together like a puzzle.
-All of the lines fit.
-Mitch needs them, and they need Mitch. He can create for them. They are the worker bees, and he is the one who kind of organizes things in the offensive zone.

Reading between the lines means that something is implied or intended that is different from what is explicitly stated.

It is easy if you make things up or have a preexisting bias.

He had his minutes slashed in half for Pete's sake lol. You guys just want to believe he is some hockey god, he isn't. He is a great low pressure situation playmaker.

Cooper hopes he can make something happen from L3. So far nothing

I don't believe Marner is some kind of hockey god.
Cooper has stated

"The line was great"- that was copied and pasted from the headline.

Cooper stated that "We had a pretty good feeling about where the pieces fit into the puzzle. Fortunately, it worked out for us yesterday. All of the lines fit."

You may fancy yourself an expert at reading between lines ( bias confirmation) But you have to actually read the lines.
Oh, Yes the TOI was slashed.

What do you expect him to say? They are my scrub 3rd line? You know they have to be polite right. It worked for him great. For Mitch to go from L1 to L3 is a huge demotion with 50% TOI lol

Mitch did play less - not quite 50% as you are claiming. All the lines played less though on the third line Marner played around 4 minutes less than McDavid which is significant. As for my expectations of what Cooper would or should say is that I expect him to be honest though I am not naive enough to think everyone is honest all the time. I certainly don't expect him to give me your biased opinion though. lol.

I think Marner is devaluing himself at this tournament. Cut ice time means a Stanley Cup champ coach who has coached against him doesn't see him as a go to guy. He is a reg. season phenom who becomes less in the tougher games. I have no problem walking away if they fizzle in the playoffs again. Who cares about all these people who accept losing?
