Do you think they changed the lines only for the Finland game ?

Amen none of the 3 have been top 5 players for that matter but those two have been rather pedestrian but solid defensively so I guess that’s the criteria now

I have no idea, I was asking you. I saw that they loaded up the first line near the end of the game vs USA with Crosby with McDavid, as soon as they pulled the goalie Marner was on. You had information about line changes. I don't think you meant for about 3 minutes in the 3rd period of the Canada USA game. am looking forward to the game with or without the line changes.

Stone and Ciowas asked what the goal vs Sweden could do for Marner:

Stone:
"Those are the plays he makes right, he has the skill, he has the .... uhh.... (looks around as he searches for words)... and I think he kind of gets a bad rap sometimes.."

Stone didn't know what else he could add after saying "he has the skill..."

Cooper:
"...thats kid oozes confidence" as he looks away from the reporter and begins to figit with the microphone.

Noone really confidently speaks to the treatment of Marner.

It's not oh my god, it's shocking he gets the criticism he does, he's one of the top players in the game, THE BEST!

They are obviously uncomfortable with the questions. If it were really that shocking that he's criticized, they would speak alot more comfortably about him.

What are you trying to say by these quotes exactly? It sounds to me like they speak very highly of him

Marner has become back distraction in this tournament too for his team, just as hes become for Toronto. Nylander isn't, Matthews isnt... Marner is because of his outrageous contract and also his personality. He's paid like he's a top 4 player over the past 6 years but his play doesn't align with his pay and thus Team Canada players are bombarded with constant questions about Marners confidence and abilities. This was foreshadowed when he got his last contract by media and even talked about by Dubas, that if Marner doesn't live up to his contract, fans will turn on him. If he was paid 9 million, this drama probably doesn't happen. Yet... he of course wants to be paid again like he's at the level of players he's not. He needs to go somewhere where he isn't going to be such a distraction with that new contract or he needs to take what he would consider a team friendly contract.

If you're suggesting he's a distraction now, playing for team Canada, is there anywhere he wouldn't be?

Somewhere with 2 or 3 reporters in the room after a game. He's a distraction on team Canada primarily because he's a Leaf. Leafs are the big celebrities around the league, Marner himself said they are "gods". His contract and what he says gets significantly less coverage in the media if he was on certain other teams. Yet, Marner loves being a leaf and being a god but then also complains about the media. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Dude, what are you talking about, this is a mess.

This guy/girl legit has issues when it comes to Marner. It's all he or she ever posts here about. I feel like it's all alt account from a past famous leaf poster I won't name or a mod. Only reason why they're still allowed to just be in love with anything Marner related and get away with it.
You could just ignore him/her and than you don’t need to worry about it

Marner second lowest ice time of the forwards today. Past Konecny with his last 6 on 5 shift.

One less shift than Crosby and MacKinnon, Cirelli had the most shifts... it is just based on who was out there the longest for their shifts, the amount of shifts was even amongst most players because it was not a close game for most of the game so they just rolled lines, I wouldn't look into too much (unless you have an agenda).

I'll also add that Cooper and Co IMO overestimated his coaching abilities by putting Marner on line 1 (despite his documented struggles in the playoffs) and underestimated how much of a distraction Marner could become if the experiment didn't work out. If Marner was on line 3 or 4 in a checking and PK1 role , which he's a very good defensive player...then I think he'd also being getting less attention. Putting him with Mcdavid was a weird move...in addition to the mismatch in Mcdavid being the fastest player on the team and Marner being one of the slowest.
