Player Discussion Mitch Marner, Yet Again

He's doing what he does, he's created 6 easy tap-in's over the last two games that his linemates have not buried on. He's working his ass off defensively. Gotta say, I'm not seeing a massive difference between MacKinnon's, McDavids, Crosby impact and Marner's impact, Marner has clearly been the better player of course. There is only one player with a winning goal for Canada, just sayin'.

Outside of the 3v3 goal to win game 1, I’ve thought Marner has been just ok. He could be doing a lot more, but has been far from bad.

Has Mac been good? Feels like a lot of flash, but not much payoff. McDavid's been our best and it's not close. I've liked Sids game, even with the display last night. Aside from that there's a lot left to be desired

Why hasn't the amateur and the professional scouting staff done a better job to find talented bottom of the lineup players to? There is a fallacy in your assumption that the big 4 are getting paid too much. Your theory is if the big 4 take less, management will allocate those funds to better of the bottom line up talent. What is their history with bottom of the line up higher ticket players, Domi and Reaves give you the warm fuzzies do they?

Get away from binary thinking, we have a more balanced Cap hit so there fore we must have a more balanced line up, that is not a given, not at all. Just because X happens it does dont mean the outcome is pre ordained to be better.

Is he making an assumption, or pointing out a likelihood?

What would you rather have, more cap to fill out X number of spots on the roster, or less? Which scenario is likely to result in a better team?

That’s not even a contract thing, as long as Mitch is a leaf the hope is that he along with the rest find a way to win a cup.

This is what I’ve been saying, it’s an insult that he’s only playing on team Canada’s top line, he needs MUCH better linemates than the utter trash he’s being forced to carry right now.

Mitch’s tires is impressive. He has done jack squat playing with the best player in the world. He just doesn’t have it in big games. The blind pass that ended their hopes last night was classic Mitch.

Matthews has a higher g/60 with Marner not on his line than with Marner on his line over the last 3 years.

Matthews sucked, created no offense and played a nothing game as the 4th to 5th best forward on USA

Marner sucked again, and shows he can not gel with Mcdavid.

None of the leafs have had a decent tournment but neither has Mackinnon and hes competing for most awards this year so that shows you its small size and not an easy tourny to produce much in.
