It was fine, bruins offence was about basically only 2 player and had been unable to capitalize on those chance with Woll being great and even Samsonov gm 7( outside of OT goal)...so don't hurt the team that much leafs but doing the same vs Florida or Tampa, do you think you will get the same result playing the same exact way and get heavily outchance like that?
I’m not sure I can’t tell you anything about hypotheticals I can only tell you what took place but we’ll watch this years playoffs and see if the boys come to play or not

So we're not allowed to look at their raw stats per season. We're not allowed to look at when their contract was signed.
Why do we got to look at the very selective stat that Marner's agent shows us?
You are now down to a 37 game sample size... do better...
I am just saying they look at more than just stats from a single season or 37 games in your case, and you are trying to be selective, not me.

Well Marner peaked at 99 points. Nylander peaked at 98 points. Marner has the better linemates. Marner’s stats looked better early in their career because they had Nylander on PP2 and Marner on PP1.
Marner's usually the second highest scoring player on his line. Nylander is usually the highest scoring player on his line.
Even-strength points over the last 3 seasons:
Auston Matthews: 173 points in 209GP
Mitch Marner: 166 points in 217GP
William Nylander: 163 points in 233GP
John Tavares: 130 points in 222GP
Enough of a sample size for you? Clearly Marner plays with the more productive player. Big drop off between Matthews and Tavares.

We can even dive in further and do EVP/60 over the last 3 seasons:

Clearly Marner benefits from playing with a player who produces more than him. Nylander has to carry his linemates.

Breaking news: The player who plays with Matthews more than any player assisted the most of his goals.
I'm bringing more stats into the picture, and clearly even you can't defend Marner anymore. Get's harder and harder to defend Marner the more you dive into it.
You can argue he's better defensively than Nylander, sure. Arguing he's better offensively than Nylander is debateable as Nylander paces near Marner with the much worse linemates (productivity wise). Marner is the second best producing player on his line, whereas Nylander is the first.
No it wasn’t. His words were, Marner was not effective 5 on 5 with Matthews in 2023/24. Myself and others did a deep dive on that today and proved that wrong.

The problem is you're the one defining what 'effective' means.
Is assisting less than 40% of his goals considered effective? It's debateable.

I did a search today, 41% is among the league leaders.
Who in the NHL is assisting on more than even 40% consistently? Not even Kucherov is assisting on Brayden Points 5 on 5 goals at that clip, and we can all agree Kucherov is one of the best play makers in the league.
And that’s the whole point, who is Antro to say that, that’s not effective? That’s why I did the dive to find the ratio and the percent and surprise, surprise, of course 41% is one of the highest league wide.

I find it ironic people here kept saying Rantanen was a product of MacKinnon but can't accept that Marner might be a product of Matthews.

Now to your question, I think both benefit from each other. That’s sports and hockey in specific. Both players benefit. Based on the numbers I’ve seen, I’d say Marner benefits slightly more from Matthews, especially as a playmaker. If Matthews doesn’t score Mitch’s numbers go down, whereas Matthews if playing with others is a goal scorer, so as long as someone can pass him the puck he will score.
The only thing to note, is Marner has been the one to do it the best and on a very consistent level for Matthews. That being said, I acknowledge that others could potentially fill the role.
