Trade, very good player, doesn't have what it takes to win in the playoffs. I think it's time to reshape our top 6 and identity and he's the man that will return us players to win now and also makes the most money.

FLA forecheck killed us, our top 6 doesn't have anyone that can go in there and forecheck and create our own chances from it.

Anyone can be traded if the return is right. Problem is there's a handful of dudes on his level and I doubt teams wanna do a lateral move.

Marner was 13th in points in the NHL and a Selke nominee. It's fair to be mad but think reasonably.

Unless you wanna watch boring goon hockey then trade everyone and sign Sam Bennett's who wouldn't play in the NHL if it wasn't enjoyed by 2% of the North American population.

I'd trade him right now. freakin loser

He seems to need a zero pressure atmosphere to compete. It has to be low stakes and he has to have a coach that strokes his ego. Skip the dishes and Fortnite on off days. It's got to be the perfect eco system.

High maintenance, just writing that makes me want to break up with him and we aren't even a thing.

I'm done with you Mitchell, it's over. Goodbye

I wonder what kind of "shambles" was put in his brains in 2nd round and especially in elimination games.

His entitled attitude was on full display early on in the season and also confirms when matthews-marner were not seprated in the 5 games against florida with season on the line except in few instances where marner had just killed penalties

Babcock called out his bullshit they got hit fired; Keefe called them out they got him apologizing in the media the next day while throwing public tantrum instead of owning up to their own putrid play and taking responsibility. And on top of that this jackass wears "A" on his jersey

go figure

So much for accountability. I really think it's time for the changes to be made. The 4 player 40+m model isn't going to get us a cup.

We've seen him with a coach that kicked his ass, and we've seen him with a coach that coddled him like the spoiled child he is.

What else is there to see?

It's more about competency than coaching style as far as I'm concerned. Babcock was an asshole and Keefe was a buddy, but end of the day both men got outcoached in the playoffs and made baffling lineup decisions. My very unpopular opinion is that Mitch was fine for most of the playoffs, save for one awful giveaway in Game 2 and a terrible Game 3 in Round 2.

He was our worst player.

Your 11M winger. Was your worst.
Worse than min wage guys.

He makes more than Mcdavid/Marchand/Pasta/Drai/TKachuk.

Let that sink in. Ship him away ASAP
CapFriendly says McDavid's AAV/cap hit is $12.5m (salary $12m this season), Marner's is $10.9m (salary $8.0m this season).

Just pointing out that detail for accuracy, not commenting on the topic otherwise.

Blow it up. Trade any of the top 6 F you can. The excuses don’t cut it anymore. A bunch of overpaid coddled losers. The effort of Marner, Matthews, Tavares and Nylander was an embarrassment this series. Let another team pay for failure. The fans who paid for the overpriced tickets should be livid to see these guys go 1-5 at home. Pathetic. Just move on from this core.

One of Marner or Tavares has to go.
Can't trade Tavares without his consent, full NMC.

Marner is tradeable until July 1, then his full NMC kicks in.

Overall, the big 4:
- Tavares has a full NMC through to 24-25. (AAV $11.0m, signed to 24-25, then UFA.)
- Marner has a full NMC for 23-24 and 24-25. (AAV $10.9m, signed to 24-25, then UFA.)
- Matthews has a full NMC for 23-24. (AAV $11.6m, signed to 23-24, then UFA.)
- Nylander has a M-NTC (10 team no-trade list) for 23-24. (AAV $7.0m, signed to 23-24, then UFA.)

Source: John Tavares Contract, Cap Hit, Salary and Stats - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

I noticed some of y'all aren't looking a the crucial NMC details in the "get rid of X" threads that unsurprisingly popped up now... Any trades (I mean, without consent) regarding the big 4 would have to be this off-season.
