I find it funny reading this primary assist stuff too, the guy was absolutely amazing last year on that front, yet we had to endure how JT was carrying him. Can never win.

Just listen to another team’s broadcast and you’ll understand how unique Marner is...

they know elite players and how much they contribute to the game

I was up at that huge Hockey store at Vaughn Mills earlier this year. I was pretty surprised that while they carried a bunch of Leafs jerseys, pretty much all were JT or Matthews, and a lot of the branded toys like plush dolls were also JT or Matthews. Now, they can make a Marner jersey real quick, but I was a bit surprised by the disparity in selection. My favorite Leaf can rotate by the week, but I'd generally say Marner. I definitely think he's the most exciting to watch. But, at any given time it could be one of Marner, Matthews, JT or Rielly.
 
Already is. What i like most about Marner is that for him it seem like it is about the team. Cant really say the same about Matthews (hands down the best player on the team) or Nylander. Think Nylander is the most exciting to watch though.

I still think he's overpaid but like I said at the time as well, I'd rather overpay superstars and not have money for mediocre UFAs than the other way around.

After the whole Babcock story came out, I'm not surprised at all that the negotiations were tough.

Don't think so. Pretty sure they do the pressing in store, so it wouldn't be hard to quickly make more. Soon enough he'll get that treatment though, and I'd assume most places that don't do pressing instore have his jersey for sale. It just seems much more Matthews and JT stuff has been made.
 
Worth his money right now. I thought he was overrated i was wrong. He was Babcocked, but no more and now he takes off. Hope he stay with Matthews , Tavares Nylander will be a good line too. As i wanted all along. Merry Xmas to me

Nylander is with a better matched center now. Watch his goal scoring soar with JT setting him up and driving play in a area and Nylander driving play on entries and possession.
 
I just want Marner too make the All star game. He should’ve been there last year.

Hunter should be phoning Babcock and telling him "see I told you Marner is the right choice".
 
Marner is still overpaid but when you look at how he was treated by Babcock, I can't blame Mitch anymore.
Also as @Pi mentioned, I rather overpay the great players like Matthews, Nylander and Marner, then the 4th line players. I still prefer to not overpay anyone though.

At ES, since 2018-2019, when he joined Tavares' line:..

Marner ranks 3rd in the league in points per 60, behind Kucherov and Marchand, both of whom play on a stacked super-line.
Marner ranks 1st in the league in primary points per 60.
Marner ranks 1st in the league in primary and total assists per 60.

Pretty good for some overpaid guy.
