Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

I have decided that i dont think leafs will be better without Marner. I dont trust the management to handle any extra money at all. Still want him gone.

It's amazing how many people can read "We are looked upon as gods" and get it in their heads that he said "I'm a god", and then lament about how he could've been looked upon as a god on legends row if he stayed a Leaf.

No, the contention is he was so poorly treated in this market despite making a direct statement claiming they are… whatever association you make with gods only a year ago.

And then in the same paragraph they blame the GM for incompetence despite pointing to issues that aren’t organizationally based.

It's completely possible for both statements to be true. Toronto players ARE worshipped by the fans, I don't think that can be disputed, and Marner was mistreated by some fans, which also can't be disputed.

They have all disappeared in the playoffs. Nylander and Matthews sound like pissy babies every 2 weeks and disrespect the fans consistently. The ONLY reason you've changed your tune on Marner is because he's leaving. The team wants him back, and he'd be back if he wanted to be here too. Has nothing to do with these fake narratives you've made up. He's decided to not wear your favourite shirt anymore so now you've turned on him.
Your deadpan biting sarcasm is right on. Did you have a different username of a poster I admired perhaps?

What I take issue with is Marner’s exit has somehow put everyone on trial. Toronto, all the media, the fanbase, Brad Treliving, the organization. The ghost of Mike Babcock, spirit of Lou Lamoriello.

I'd argue the 9th straight year of shitting their pants has done that, not Marner leaving.

We typically discuss Nylander’s issues and Matthews issues in their own threads. There’s no need to try and divvy up the blame share cake here. This slice is Mitch’s.

I disagree.

There are other NHL teams who have done well for themselves without Marner; no reason to think Marner shown the door is a bad thing

Its an opportunity for Leafs to restructure their cap and roster. Leafs just have to make the playoffs and then after that playoffs is a different ball-game altogether compared to regular season.

Leafs can make the playoffs IMO they may not be 1st in division or 1st in conference but they can make the playoffs. Then in the playoffs when its balls to the walls hockey we need those kind of players. After making the playoffs its a clean slate regardless of which seed you were in the regular season.

Marner gone is the best thing that can happen to the Leafs. Leafs can find 2 to 3 players who can together make up for the points Marner scored for about 11 to 12 AAV (combined) and spread that across three lines that is only going to pay dividends

This.

Losing Marner doesn't automatically = no playoffs. The team needs shaking up. Running it back is not an option.

Wow. Another social media defense team account comes right out of the woodwork. What a coincidence! The desperation of the Marner Camp is obvious.
I love when people make burner accounts and then post stuff in weird ways - small disjointed paragraphs, weird indents, purposeful spelling errors, weird spaces/or lack of spaces between characters - just to hide who they are. LOL
