Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

They feel disrespected anytime Mitch is held accountable

Not disrespectful when you threaten to sign an offer-sheet or threaten to sit out the entire season unless you get what you want. Not disrespectful to mail it in at work during the most important time of the year. Not disrespectful to demand the sun and the moon and get pissy when you refuse to deliver your end of the bargain. Key word refuse, because he literally doesn't even try in the playoffs.

Preach it. It's all truth. He is maybe the worst character to land here ever. Worst EVER!

Look guys, Dave Mustaine got kicked out of Metallica but Megadeth is still an incredible band and made one of the best metal albums of all time. However, everyone knows Metallica is the better band.
Funny you mention him...Just started reading a book that talks about how depressed he has been since he didn't reach the heights that Metallica did even though he sold 25M albums compared to Metallica's 125M.

Dave's ready to trash talk Metallica even still.

Well see if Mitch Mustaine takes the same path or not

I completely forgot about that. In hindsight, I wish Marner would've signed one. Then again, Kyle would've matched.

The guy self described himself as being treated like a deity in this city 12 months earlier lol

A consistent trend throughout Marner's entire time with the team has been an inability to be smart about PR, and this certainly shows zero signs of ending during his final couple weeks lol. Putting crap like this out in the media is just pouring fuel on the fire, he's getting a healthy chorus of boos during his next game at Scotia Bank. Hopefully he enjoys himself wherever out West he ends up.

What Marner is doing makes the salute gate look like nothing in comparison.

Except for the part where Matthews and Nylander did the same thing and got rewarded for it. But now suddenly Mitch Marner gets treated differently and they try to trade him even though he has full protection. Hmm, I wonder why he's not taking their calls.

The most pathetic part is that they've done a 180 and want him back. :shakehead Horrible franchise.

The whiny whataboutism from Marner with regards to Matthews and Nylander is red flag to me and says so much about his maturity and character and lack thereof.

If he wanted to be respected as that special Leaf in his little speech to the fanbase, why not live that truth and be that special player, live up to the privileges the organization gave you. Accept the blame when things go wrong. Learn. Evolve. Overcome. Lead the team to success and prove you’re better than the other two.

But no, he’s gotta lash out, leak out drama, fight with the hometown and also punish the franchise that stood by him.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want him back but the childishness is just so fitting here and so loathsome.

I can't listen to it. What's the gist?
Matthews, Marner, and Nylander had an all season individual points competition agreement between them. No word if there were any bets or something like that. That said, if you're doing this, it proves they're all about individual goals not team success.

Now think about this: Marner and Matthews were playing on he same line all year. Their points could feed off each other. Nylander, all by himself except on the PP. Do you think maybe that say a pass to Nylander for an open look may have been passed up?

Nothing like some healthy competition. Sheesh...

If the internal competition is real, and neither the coach or GM put an end to it, the rot goes way deeper than the players.

As far as my own disrespect to the player, I freely admit it. Don’t really like him.
never really liked him but for me it became a serious dislike in the 23/24 season during an overtime game.

willie scored one of those o/t goals where he beat a defender then the goalie, a real beauty ... the camera went to the bench, the players were all smiles jumping over the boards ... except mitchy, he was slowly walking along the bench and staring daggers at willie as if he resented him for scoring ... told me all i needed to know about mitchy

The guy is likely not even touching his principle income and living off interest alone. Really don’t understand why he needs the highest bidder vs just staying in his home town at a reasonable rate.
