If the feeling is that playoffs matter, Marner shouldn't be getting paid a penny more than Domi.If the feeling is Nylander is fine at 11.5 for his 45 goals, that puts Marner around 9ish?

I think its time to leave the leafs talk to leafs, onlyIf the feeling is that playoffs matter, Marner shouldn't be getting paid a penny more than Domi.
There is no poisonous environment. It's going to be harder to win when the 'poison' makes it difficult to attract players.
Leaf fans want to see the team have success. The poisonous environment that's being created is a detriment to that.
This is too dumb to respond to. Carry on without me.There is no poisonous environment.
Fans telling players to F off? That’s happen in any sports in any major market.
Just bc your boy is leaving, doesn’t mean it is a poisonous environment.
Are you one of those that you wish Leafs sucks from now on bc MM is gone, that way you can come here and state the claim that Leafs is nothing without MM?
We cheer for the logo and not the name in the back.
We've seen marquee players refuse to sign or extend here. There is no poisonous environment.

Oh no David Perron and Matt Roy. Tanev signed here. OEL signed here. We've seen marquee players refuse to sign or extend here.
We're watching a marquee local player leaving for nothing, without even engaging in dialogue with the team.
We saw the current cup champions and 3-time finalists throw a pity party for how difficult Toronto is to play in.
Whatever your thoughts are on the idea that Toronto is/isn't a hard place to play, is irrelevant - it's already out there that this place is hard to play in, and continues to spread. And it's begun to seep it's way into player decisions.
This goes beyond the Marner situation too - ROR didn't resign here. David Perron, when offered the exact same deal, chose the quieter Ottawa market. Matt Roy opted for Washington instead of Toronto.
Stop pretending like it isn't a glaring problem staring the Leafs right in the face.

The fact that their paycheck is the same whether the team makes the playoffs or not is not the same as saying their playoff performance doesn't impact their contract. You're mixing apples and oranges.
Yeah I'm sure all the drama around him just appeared out of thin air. Absolutely nothing on his end that he did to cause any of it. Nylander or Matthews have any of it? Nope. Just Mitch. Were Lou and Babcock singling those guys out and denying them bonuses/having them write lists? Nope. Just Mitch - once again.I think Florida was interfering with an Atlantic Division team by trashing Toronto and damaging its reputation on the free agency market and wasn’t appropriate.
We’ve never really had the cap space to chase big free agents but then again we’ve never had problems signing all kinds of players from all kinds of backgrounds.
End of the day, this is more specifically a Mitch Marner problem than a Toronto problem. Look at the wide spray of blame here. From how crap the Toronto market is, how terrible and unfair the media pressure is, how bad you are as a fan, to how bad of a job Treliving did. Like seriously, it’s everyone’s fault except Mitch’s?
Kane and Toews didn't get paid cause of their regular season success. If you can't see how it actually is that's your problem, don't project your own ignorance onto others.Fans who use regular season salary to quantify playoff performance are fools. There is no connection.
If that were true why wouldn’t they be negotiating here?Marner could get 16 million over 4 years. He clearly thinks 13 from the leafs is not worth discussing, so he's going to go into negotiations with 2-3 teams that will outbid each other.
Marners true passion is negotiating contracts.
that one felt like he was making a statement.ROR didn't resign here.

Holy f*** man get a grip.Whatever your thoughts are on the idea that Toronto is/isn't a hard place to play, is irrelevant - it's already out there that this place is hard to play in, and continues to spread. And it's begun to seep it's way into player decisions.
Yes it will be the same as with dubas, those who hate him will talk about him all the time, anyone else who does will be obsessed, fans of player over team, go to the vegas board etcIts foolish to think it will end after 2 weeks. People like Dekes will be giving us day-to-day updates on how Marner is doing with his new team.
And in the heart of Safe Space Generation capital of earth Toronto, Ontario at that. Maybe it does make some sense.Well, we are talking about the Safe Space Generation after all...
One of the players who made that comment is also someone who couldn’t handle being in a big market. So it’s not that surprising.I think Florida was interfering with an Atlantic Division team by trashing Toronto and damaging its reputation on the free agency market and wasn’t appropriate.

Are the Yankees hard to play for? Are the Cowboys hard to play for? Are the Lakers hard to play for?
Leafs are no different than any of these franchises. Believe it or not - lots of players actually WANT to come Toronto because it's the best team in the league to build a legacy in.
You're trying to paint your own opinion as fact.
One of the players who made that comment is also someone who couldn’t handle being in a big market. So it’s not that surprising.
He also takes every moment to troll the leafs because it gives him attention that he doesn’t get, which is also quite funny
Yeah",... the Foundation will continue to honour all its commitments to charitable partners. We remain deeply grateful for the community.” It is just the Marner all star invitaional that has been canceled.Wow. I guess that’s what he thinks of Toronto
