Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

You can blame Mitch for that, which for whatever reason you are reluctant to do.

He could've asked for a trade last offseason, didn't.
He could've accepted the massively stupid contract, didn't.
He could've accepted a trade to a team with a good fit for him, didn't.

Mitch is about Mitch, a massive reason as to why the core failed.

From reports, he wanted to stay, and he wanted to wait til the end of the season.

I think it is stupid, but I also don't see a reason that he'd lie.

If he wanted out sooner, he could have gotten out.

I am blaming all involved but I don't really blame anyone, I think Marner wanted to come back, I think Treliving tried to sign him, and I think Treliving tried to move him when it didn't work, those are all valid things and now the relationship has soured.

13-13.5 is insanely fair, this wasn't some "lowball" offer like 9.5 or 10.25 (his actual worth based on playoff performances), he turned it down.

Yeah he wanted to stay in the same way people want Bugattis for a dollar, sure if the Leafs offer him 18 mill tomorrow, he could stay, but his greedy character already turned down a massive contract showing that in reality he didn't want to stay badly enough.

He didn't want to come back badly enough, apparently 13 mill+ isn't a needle mover, goes to show you how delusional/daft/greedy Mitch is that he legit thinks he is worth more than that.

But hey, I'm glad it worked out that way because he is in no way worth that.

Bottom line though, it was Mitch's own doing like his failed career in Toronto.

Ya, don't disagree, if he wanted to wait, that is on him, I don't blame the GM for trying to move on for certainty reasoning.

Well, you have your opinion.

Maybe he wanted to try to prove his worth in the playoffs.

He will go down as the highest scoring player while he was here, both in the regular season and the playoffs... not a bad legacy for most.

That's what his actions show us.

Another playoffs, another meh performance (relative to his talent level), so should we get a discount? Ofc not according to Mitch.

Nah he'll go down as an immense talent that was greedy/soft and didn't show up in the clutch.

Mitch could go down as a hero if he gave some massive discount tomorrow, like 8x7 or 8x8 then we can add either Ekblad or Bennet or at the very least Marchand.

But he won't do that because Mitch is not serious about winning, he never was. He never added the muscle/weight needed for him to compete in the playoffs, he never gained a shot, he never took a discount and he made the stupid plays he always did to the end, like the Montreal flip, Bruins avoidance of a hit when he had an open net and the stupid no look backhand up the middle.

Definitely one of the best performances on the team.

To the uneducated, sure.

No, Tavares took a discount to come home and people hate him still.

Okay.

Okay.
If somebody 300lbs appears on my 600lb life, they would be thin too.

Just the opposite, to the educated that care to look into stats.

That's not really a discount, all players are in this line of thinking taking a discount, McDrai are also taking discounts because they would get 18M+ easily. That's not what is meant. A true discount is when you take less to win in a market, not taking less than some bottom feeder with space would offer you.

I also wouldn't really be proud of San Jose offering me that amount of money considering their abysmal Karlsson signing.

We took Florida to game 7, if we had Marchand why couldn't we have beat Florida? He just scored a beauty against EDM to start game 5, what a player!

I also wouldn't be so sure he wouldn't want to play here, has he come out and said that?
Florida, particularly Bob, were awful in games 1 and 2 and once they got their game straightened out it wasn’t much of a contest

I can’t imagine Marchand wanting to play on team with no chance of winning, especially when he knows exactly why they can’t win.

Game 5 was today? I thought it was tomorrow.

Nope. It’s 2-0 Florida almost end of 2nd

Lou offered him more too.

He took a discount to come here, and all it got him was people wanting him to leave.

Me either but there is not much else on tv tonight so I thought I would torture myself by watching what good teams look like
North America Cup is on. Miki and Minnie with Dexter Dunn just won the Fan Hanover.

Dexter Dunn drove Bulldog Hanover, the fastest and most handsome standardbred horse ever.

Marchand with 2 goals tonight puts him at 10 in 22 games, not only is this obviously way more than Mitch ever produced in his best playoffs (3 goals), the pace in terms of gpg is .46 and this is nearly 3x as much as Mitch's career playoff gpg.

Should a 37 year old SMALLER (likely slower) completely CLOWN Mitch's totals in Toronto? The answer is obviously not, but it goes to show you the sort of soft/heartless player Mitch was/is.

(I didn't make the comparison with 40 year old Perry because this would be unfair to Mitch as he's taller and weighs more, we need to have the lowest possible standards for Mitch, but it goes to show you how it was never his "small size" but lack of other "intangibles")

"Congrats on tripling my career playoff goal best at nearly 40 years old Brad"
