As funny as it is to see you try to represent a holdout as signing in season, what other players choose to do is irrelevant. Some players are fine signing in-season. Some players aren't. It's up to them. Treliving gave Matthews and Nylander everything they wanted, and they never had to deal with the same kind of disrespect. Heck, trying to trade him would have been better than the stupid games they actually opted for. It's an obvious point, but if you're competent at managing a team, little procedural complications like no in-season signings don't really matter.
Marner has taken every abuse that this team, city, and fanbase could throw at him over the years in stride, and stayed loyal, committed, and philanthropic throughout. Goes out there and does his job, better than most people in the league, and all he asks for is what he's earned.
He has barely been held accountable, let alone abused. He’s been handled with kid gloves since day one.
As I’ve said before, Mitch Marner turned the media and fans into enemies and then wonders why they don’t really like him.
