Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Trading him isn’t really an option and they wouldn’t get much for him anyway.

it's poor asset management.

Asset management 101 - you don't lose a 28 yr old 100 pt player for nothing aside from cap space.

The situation the leafs find themselves in, is the disaster - we don't have options.

According to Frank Seravalli, via Sportsnet 590 and shared by NHL Rumour Report on X:

"Frank Seravalli: Anaheim Ducks are a team to watch for Mitch Marner in addition to Vegas, Anaheim offers more anonymity and willing to pay big money - SN590."

MM (Mitch Marner) playing near MM (Mickey Mouse) in Disneyland seems like a nice fit for MM (Mitch Marner) to make MM (max money).
I wonder if Marner steps back on the short term contract demand.

If he gets 14+x7, he just take it and dont get greedy. Because his stock could plummet in the next two years if he doesnt gel with his linemates, doesnt have an elite goal scoring center or a top 5v5 goal scoring center, doesnt have a loaded PP.... and if he continues to struggle in the playoffs. If his team even makes it.

What would his value be if he pulls a few more playoff duds?

signing that contract was poor asset management and everyone knew it the moment it was announced.

Always like to point out how its always about Mitch Marner to Mitch Marner.

For example, when Matthews was introduced as captain, Marner was interviewed and asked about Matthews evolution as a leader. Marner responded by talking about how "they" learned alot from Tavares leadership.

After the Canada 4Nations championship, Marner was asked if Mcdavid scoring was a passing of the torch international moment from Crosbys to Mcdavid.

Marner responded with nothing about Mcdavid.

"maybe, you know like weve talked about Crosby has been alot of our idols and still is our idols, and I think I said this before, im happy to have him on MY team, at times like these."

Also notice that Maurice said he doesnt like how a long line of suits line up for the handshake line after playoffs, he said it never used to be like that but he suspects it started when someone wanted to "grab tv time".

Exactly what Ive said about all Marners "superstitions". They just happen to all grab more TV time. Yet you dont hear about any superstitions of Mitch that arent in front of the camera.

- he has to be the last to hug the goalie and its an elaborate hug.
- he later started hugging the mascot after wins
- he has to be the last on and off the ice. More TV time and also his name is never blockdd by other players.

Of course he probably lrarned a bit from Red Bull, as they pay him to wear there hat in the dressing room after wins.

if Tree wants to change the DNA they absolutely need to get rid of Marner.

It's funny because it's all true

Maybe he said it like that or you are just making stuff up again? Marner doesn't wear a suit and Maurice has no problem with players in the handshake line. A lot of players have a first on and/or last off habit.

It's funny because it's all true

Marner is obsessed with himself... look at this door knob.. skating around after warmups in front of the crowd all by himself. Good on Marchand for not giving in to the drama queen.

Of course, Marner had to do the same thing and try to outwait Sidney Crosby to be the last one off the ice. But Crosby, being the stand-up guy he is, just let the little kid have his way. Can you imagine… actually thinking you deserve to go last over Sidney f&$*ing Crosby?

And notice how Marchand stopped by the door, turned to face Marner, and said a few words while Marner immaturely just kept skating.

Similarly, in the dressing room, Marner admitted he just sat there, waiting to see what would happen until Crosby finally came over and told him he’d let him go last.

… just a perfect reflection of who Marchand and Crosby are as leaders and more proof of why Marner comes across as a cowardly non-leader.

This is probably exactly how his brain operates during contract negotiations too…

Treliving tried to change the DNA last year but Vegas wouldn't agree to the marner offer.
I think Shanahan probably had to approve the Marner deal, and he wasnt gonna do it just to change the DNA. He was only gonna do it if he thought it gave them a better chance at a Stanley Cup and save his job. I think Tree wanted to move him, no matter the return.

Up until Shanahan was let go, Tree would shower Marner with compliments and say how they want to sign him so he's here for a long long time. He obviously spoke differently this time about Marner.

For sure. He is narcissistic person

It’s pretty well documented Marner and his camp feel they were treated unfairly by the franchise/fans. I don’t see him doing them any favours.

It’s peculiar because it’s a one-way hatred by all accounts. The organization bent over backwards for him.

Yep. And I'd say A couple were legitimate. The bonus snub and Babcock going over the top.

But hes been made more than whole since. What's even remarkable is had preferred lineup accommodations two coaches in a row too. Never more than a few minutes away from Matthews

That would make sense to go to a team where he could hide away from the hockey world and not be held accountable for not living up to his giant contract demands
