Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

Lol... God on skates wasn't even worth Theodore to a real contender.

Theodore is a good, not great, hockey player. He's more comparable to Rielly than Hedman or Makar. He's not even the best defenseman on their team.

Marner for Theodore screams of Hall-Larsson 2.0.

But at least the Leafs would have gotten something back. Theodore is a lot better than the nothing they're getting now. Another master class in asset management Toronto Maple Leafs style.

The cap space is valuable assuming they spend it wisely on adequate replacements for the anointed one.

For some reason I'm skeptical they'll pull this off. They've botched virtually everything they've tried since drafting Matthews. There's always a first time for everything and I suppose this could be it.

I don't expect anything but continued buffoonery from a team that couldn't even get a 4D for the glorious revered one though.

Theodore signed for 7.4 million last offseason.. that tells you all you need to know. Marner reportedly wants nearly double that.

Shanny is such a goofball for letting it get to this. We're just dudes on our phones killing time with no access to the players and this outcome seemed incredibly predictable for 3 years

Actually, that's not true.

Even if you just go back year, people were being called idiots and morons for suggesting that Marner might walk at the end of the season.

It would outright rejected as a possibility and people even suggesting it were mocked and ridiculed.

Par for the course here. I'd have traded him after the blue jackets or Habs series without a second thought

"Frank Seravalli: Anaheim Ducks are a team to watch for Mitch Marner in addition to Vegas, Anaheim offers more anonymity and willing to pay big money - SN590."

MM (Mitch Marner) playing near MM (Mickey Mouse) in Disneyland seems like a nice fit for MM (Mitch Marner) to make MM (max money).

Always like to point out how its always about Mitch Marner to Mitch Marner.

For example, when Matthews was introduced as captain, Marner was interviewed and asked about Matthews evolution as a leader. Marner responded by talking about how "they" learned alot from Tavares leadership.

After the Canada 4Nations championship, Marner was asked if Mcdavid scoring was a passing of the torch international moment from Crosbys to Mcdavid.

Marner responded with nothing about Mcdavid.

"maybe, you know like weve talked about Crosby has been alot of our idols and still is our idols, and I think I said this before, im happy to have him on MY team, at times like these."

Also notice that Maurice said he doesnt like how a long line of suits line up for the handshake line after playoffs, he said it never used to be like that but he suspects it started when someone wanted to "grab tv time".

Exactly what Ive said about all Marners "superstitions". They just happen to all grab more TV time. Yet you dont hear about any superstitions of Mitch that arent in front of the camera.

- he has to be the last to hug the goalie and its an elaborate hug.
- he later started hugging the mascot after wins
- he has to be the last on and off the ice. More TV time and also his name is never blockdd by other players.

Of course he probably lrarned a bit from Red Bull, as they pay him to wear there hat in the dressing room after wins.

if Tree wants to change the DNA they absolutely need to get rid of Marner.

I've thought Ducks or Sharks for quality of life and no expectations in the post season.

Also thought they'd be good for Matthews, and have nice young assets for a retool.

Mitch Marner May Have Accepted a Trade to Vegas if Asked

The Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta discussed the Vegas/Leafs trade last off-season during locker cleanout day last week on 'Leafs Morning Take', confirming that Vegas was one of a handful of teams that inquired about Marner.

"Vegas was one of them -- they couldn't get there. I believe Vegas was a team he would've waived to."

It's unfortunate the Leafs and Vegas couldn't agree on a deal last year, but it could mean that Vegas is willing to pay up this time around to land Marner in a sign-and-trade and allow the Leafs to recoup a fair return given Vegas' cap constraints.

They'll get something like a 4th rounder for advanced negotiations. Wouldn't hold my breath for a "fair" return.

I know they weren't good enough but to lay it all on marner is nuts. He's a hometown kid and has been fun to watch all these years. Yes his past negotiations have soured many but in the end the organization is at fault. I don't care how they get it done, he should stay here and see this through.

Joffery Lupul was fun to watch. Why didn't we keep him? No Marner should not see this through. Why must he be kept? Hometown and fun are not good enough reasons.

You could get a decent player if Vegas needs to make cap room. They moved Schmidt for a song to fit in Petro. Even if you get a 4th, use the cap space on a solid UFA.

I don't know where this idea of a sign and trade came from but Marner's contract is done. He is under no obligation to the Leafs or their fans to do a sign and trade. Frankly, I just wish free agency already has started so we can all move on from this guy.

His contract is done June 30 actually. Same for every UFA
