That he turned the offer down? This is what he said yesterday:Start of the year iirc via Dreger
The God already turned down 13x8.
He legit thinks he's McDavid.
He has 8 goals in his last 50 playoff games. That looks like it's teetering into "bad goal scorer" category.Mitch is an elite defender, an elite set up guy and an OK goal scorer and will disappear when the moment gets big.

Matthews just did the same last yearI feel like I've been watching this outcome in slow motion for 6 years. Even before he signed I knew this departure was inevitable. You can't rake a team this badly on a contract as an RFA, be Casper the friendly ghost in every game 7, then seek a big raise.
I agree, at 28 its doubtful he will suddenly drop the controller and decide he wants to take fitness seriously. He will be slower if he bulks up and he won't be as nimble or elusive. He doesn't have a build to change and most importantly he is too old to make that shift.
The geniuses at MLSEL dodged a bullet when Marner refused to sign. Seriously how dumb do you have to be to offer this loser $13.5mx8 during the regular season after having seen him wet his pants in the playoffs for the last 6 years?Leafs should bow out. No contest. The end
That he turned the offer down? This is what he said yesterday:
It would have been bad but it would have allowed the Leafs to trade him. I am sure he would gladly waive his NMC rather than facing the summer heat. Can you imagine if that was the case? Imagine if he signed this?
Or weather it was even offered. It is written as speculation. Can you imagine if that was the case? Imagine if he signed this?

Was he offered anything?been saying this for months, marner aint gonna accept no chump change
No chance IMO.I see Bryan Hayes is seeing what I’m seeing. Marner could come back.
I’d rather not take that chance. The window was 2 years ago to move one of Marner/Nylander and get some different guys in here that could actually be top 6. Instead nothing and we recycle to bottom with whoever plays for league minimum. It would have been bad but it would have allowed the Leafs to trade him. Luckily, he was to stupid and greedy to take the offer. Good luck finding $108m elsewhere.I’d rather not take that chance. I didn't watch overdrive (heard about 10 minutes on the radio), what did he say?I see Bryan Hayes is seeing what I’m seeing. Marner could come back.

Having digested it all for a bit, I think he could come back too. It's his hometown so playing here is a dream come true, you know the Leafs pay well so he's not going to be underpaid, he gets couple million more in endorsements, the only reason for him to even consider leaving is if he's just that big a wuss that he simply can not handle the pressure. But leave with his tail between his legs and that'll forever be his legacy. And all needs to turn the narrative around is just one spring where he plays like a champion, not just for the first 4 playoff games but sustains it through multiple rounds. So much motivation to stay, it simply off the charts. And if we ever go deep, then his endorsement income is locked in for the next 50+ years. I still see Leafs in commercials that played here 50 years ago that got no further than the final 4, can you imagine how much money and glory is in it for him if we even make the finals just once?
So IMHO, that's what it comes down to - is he the biggest wuss in Maple Leaf History or isn't he? That's assuming the Leafs would have him back and it sure sounds like that is indeed the case. Stay tuned.
