Player Discussion Mitch Marner Part Infinity

People talk about his size being the issue but 6'0 180 isn't that small. I've seen people call him "smurf" among other things and I don't get it. How was someone like pat kane so effective in the playoffs and how is someone like marchand so effective in the playoffs?
6' 180 is small. Nylander is 6' 200. Nobody would call Nylander big.

20lbs difference is significant and would certainly help Marner in all areas of the ice.

The real, true, undisputed best players excel in the worst situations possible.

Game breakers (changers). Marner is not.
Only way mitch resigns is if nylander gets moved
And after mathews thru him under the bus
I could see it too
Nylander has a greedy mouthpeice dad too9

Do people agree with that? I 100% believe he was saying Mitch was a passenger. Did he say other things?

I think there was a clip of Matthews looking annoyed after Mitch yelling at the bench.

Penguins fan here, I just wanted to ask a question that you guys surely can answer, and nobody else can:

When Dubas was fired, it has been widely reported everywhere that he wanted to break up the group and had decided to do so when Shanahan fired him. Do we know the player Dubas preferred to trade back then? I am just trying to gauge the relationship between Dubas and Marner. Was it still good up until the end? We Pens fans are connecting the dots between Dubas and Marner, myself included, but what if it was Marner that Dubas wanted to move at that time? Or was it Nylander? I assume it was not Matthews or Tavares for obvious reasons.

Anyway, any info would be appreciated. And, as a lifelong Montreal Expos fan I have a fairly good idea of what you guys are feeling (every year). I am also a NY Jets fan, so clearly I have issues.

But I digress.

It was allegedly Marner but there's no proof AFAIK.

Only thing worse than being a Leafs fan is being a fan of a team with Dubas in charge. Enjoy not making the playoffs until he is fired.

Marner at the presser, "Devastated in a way". B.S. Marner yells at the bench to "Wake the F*** up" in game 7, his spinarama in Game 5 swept under the carpet in his mind, Take care, no need for strong narcissism vibes in a locker room. 34 and 88 have the same vibe, get rid of one of them.

No, it is pure conjecture from dubious (at best) sources to say that he wanted to make changes. Pittsburgh signing Marner at this point in their franchise would be a horrible choice like trading for Karlsson, but with Dubas at the helm there's a good chance he does the wrong thing.

Its not easy to stay humble, undersized player who proved alot of people wrong, 100 million US earned before 28, beautiful wife, he could retire tomorrow. Obviously, big amount of respect toward Mitch Marner.

In what world can u give marner and knies raises
Thatts tavaras money spent and u no$ left to replace a 70 point tavaras
Something has to give or cash strapped without a second line centre

To be fair to them - they all dismissed it today.

Even Marner, when asked about his family and what's happened to them the last 24 hours, chose to focus instead on the love and affection that they receive from most fans in the city.

Even if the pressure of the market is too much for most of them, they aren't going to use it as an excuse, which at the very least, I respect. Even if it's a very predictable response to what was always going to be talking point today.
Well bc they know it is BS from the start.

There will always be pressure in Game 7 of a series no matter which city you are playing in.

I don't see any way he is more than 160View attachment 1039432

Mitch at his size needed to be faster and have a better shot, that never happened.

He obviously needed more musculature and even body fat, that never happened either.

At his draft he was listed as 5'11 160, now he is listed at 6' 170, honestly it would not surprise me if he was 5'10.5 and only in the high 160s after meals+water.

He needed to join the Gary Roberts gang back in 2018 to be bigger, stronger, more explosive to progress into his 20s. It’s whatever now, and if he’s soon to be an ex-Leafs I couldn’t care less what he does next.

I would've taken him going to the Kessel school of hot dogs, at least he would've been harder to push around in the playoffs

Don’t know why we are still talking about Marner. At this point he is 99% not a Leaf player anymore and he won’t accept a sign and trade because he never signed an 8 year deal with the Leafs who gave him a massive bonus UP FRONT throughout his entire career with the Leafs.

There is no other owner/franchise that will be willing to pay a 90% bonus to him with NMC added on top of it.

He will take the most money “after tax” depending on the state he signs with for most likely 4-5 years like he has in the past to maximize his next contract after those 4 years or so.

Let’s move on.

A lot of the hate fans have towards him is because the franchise vilified him when they messed up negotiations.. Mistakes were made..
