He would have re-signed instead of refusing to negotiate then. By all accounts the Leafs wanted him back (I disagree with it) and he didn’t want to talk an extension with them.

He screwed the team off the ice and then followed it by screwing the team on the ice in the playoffs.

On the ice was just his limitation. He just can't handle this tempo and physicality. There is no intention to screw us there but denying trade, yes.

He should be a healthy scratch for game 6 and any further leafs games this playoffs. This must be the last time he is permitted to pollute and tarnish the Maple Leafs jersey by wearing it in an official capacity.

He is a disgrace to the city, the organization, the fans, his teammates, and the sport of hockey.

I expect the next couple of games to be his last as a Leaf. Enough of this madness.
We aren´t beating Florida, and i just hope we don´t get reverse swept.

Yeah I'm a hater. I absolutely hate losing like this every single year. Please put me out of my misery and hold 1 of these 4 guys accountable.
 
Just another friendly reminder that Mikko Rantanen was willing to sign with the Leafs as per a verbal agreement.

Mitch isn’t (thank goodness for that), decided to veto the trade and f*** us in the playoffs yet again. And as his final act, will likely walk leaving us with nothing.

Everything this guy does seems to be a big F U to this fanbase.

They can find out what leafs fan knew since the montreal meltdown
 
I said it earlier. 4 Nations looked good because he was the 5th 6th 7th best player on the team and was insulated by 87, 97, 29 Stone and other guys that brought veteran leadership. He didn’t have the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Come back to Toronto you’re not insulated by anyone. You are the guy you are the leader and everything goes thru you.

He still has an opportunity but Florida is so deep in his head right now I don’t think he can get out of it.

Had ample time to trade him. Now it's a poison pill to give him a raise or lose a great player to UFA.

The sad part is after 9 years he is a veteran himself but he has learned nothing about how to win

From what I remember, he was shiftier and more elusive when he was younger.

Obviously he's never been big or strong physically. I remember him being feistier, though. He went up against Chara in 2018 and didn't shy away.

Now he's hard to watch with the puck on his stick. He doesn't skate that well or fast. He takes these sloppy strides. Of course, he doesn't exactly excel when the play gets physical. He pretty much just throws the puck away when pressured instead of making plays under pressure now.

If you remember Ovechkin when he was younger, he was marvelous with the puck. But he changed his game when his skating and puck handling abilities declined, retaining his goal scoring and physicality. Players can lose certain abilities over time. Marner seems to be an opportunistic playmaker rather than an offensive driver nowadays.
