Proposal: Mitch Marner for Brock Boeser. Potched eggs on toast!

I get what you are attempting to say, but you failed miserably doing so. Marner has played in 9 rounds of playoff hockey, Boeser has played in 5.

It's also not relevant. Boeser was the 5th best for his team in points for 2020 covid bubble.

...the reference was to the Playoff Rounds themselves:

Marner:
1st Round - 8 times
2nd Round - 1 time

Boeser:
1st Round - 2 times
2nd Round - 2 times
3rd Round - 1 time

In 8 years Boser has made the playoffs only twice with the Canucks.

Marner has made the playoffs 8 years in a row, while leading the team in regular season scoring (4 times) and playoff scoring (2 times).

The fact that Boeser made it through to the 3rd round (during the Covid bubble no less) as a secondary scorer does not make him at all comparable to Marner.

Marner (with an extension) for Pettersson would be a more 'realistic' trade.
then you could argue C vs RW and the fact that Marner would be on the topo PP and PK and likely have the highest ice time among forwards if he were there, while Pettersson would flourish as a #2C depending on who plays on his wing, because when you remove Marner, Nylander moves up, and the Leafs winger depth is not as strong, as he'd likely be looking at Domi-McMann as wingers which is not ideal.

Dont think Vancouver has the C depth or the Leafs on the wings to consider it anyways. ...value wise its close though.

Similar deal would be Rantannan (more of a goal scorer and less on D compared to Marner) for Pettersson

I think the Canucks take that and run at this point, even without a C option. Marner’s caveat is the playoffs, but Petey sucked there last year anyway, and Marner’s regular season consistency year to year is so much greater than Pettersson’s. Marner is kind of one of the quasi-C wingers anyway like a Kane or Gaudreau where the offense runs through him and the C next to him doesn’t have to be a play-driver

Nowhere near enough value for Toronto to do that trade. Marner is not getting traded so pointless thread. Leafs are in 1st place, Marner is having a career year.
Actually he’s matching last years production so not really a career year. This is exactly who he is. Avg’s 108 points per 82 gp over the last 3 years

Poached Eggs on Toast....

This offer is more like an under cooked egg on moldy bread. Boeser isn't even close to the same tier that Marner is in

This trade would benefit both teams…short term only as both players are going to get paid this offseason.

It sucks that we’re losing a fan favourite but if this swap occurs then I believe it would be beneficial to both teams….for this years playoff run only

TO gets that shooter on the PP and should solidify the top 6 while Van gets a play making winger besides Garland to help out Pettersson & Miller as they struggle.

A straight up Canadian hockey trade to help each other in their divisions

What do you guys think?
Id like to hear your thought process on this being 1-1. please make this make sense

Is there an inside joke I'm not aware of? Is this a payback troll proposal? Did a Leafs fan propose Pettersson for Knies or something?

Surely this isn't a serious offer.

I doubt many Leaf fans would trade Knies for Pettersson.

That doesn't mean Toronto should take less value in the deal just because they "might" have more cap space. Vancouver would need to add a lot to make this deal happen.

His bloated salary kind of hurts his value though doesn’t it? Not being a C also doesn’t help. Nor does his disappointing playoffs. Vancouver was just in the playoffs and won a round. Overpaying for a guy who doesn’t help them take that next step isn’t going to be appealing for them. But there are fringe teams who would very much be happy with at least making the playoffs who probably view him differently. Buffalo, Detroit,...you can probably think of a few others. Those are the teams that this conversation should be about.
