The key is the cap space for flexibility to go reload for another core player, but if it's a hockey trade that fits, that would work well too. Seth Jones or Jack Eichel could be your Kawhi equivalent moment, though it would really be Kawhi. I think the super friends culture needs to change.

Can we steal Miro Heiskanen from Dallas? Convince them offence brings people into seats or something and pray they’re stupid enough to believe us.

I have nothing to say to protect this guy tonight besides hit the gym.

He has been a no show since promoted to top line in playoffs. He can't handle it. Too weak.
Needs to play lower down so he gets the second swarm defence .
100% he can't get anything done against top pairing defenseman, sure he's crafty but he's no patty kane like so many people want to believe he is.

The more and more I think about it - getting Eichel could be amazing (granted he gets healthy).

Imagine Matthews having his best friend traded for his rival American who would do everything in his power to try and upstage Matthews and steal the spotlight in Toronto.

I don't know what the solution is but I have a hard time believing the solution is trading a top 5 scorer that seems like that would be stupid

I don't know if Eichel is the best hockey and culture fit but the super friends clique certainly doesn't seem to work.

I hate that I was right about Marner. But its time to move on. Trade him because he's done as a Leaf, not only for the fans and the team, but for him as well. I must say that I enjoyed watching offense die on Marner's stick tonight. He didn't disappoint in being a disappointment.

Don't feel bad for him, he has 11 million to help him cope.

Whole heartedly agree.

Can't help but feel it was "Auston and Mitch's" decision to keep them together throughout.

Why would Keefe play his stars any less?

Hes already been overthrown.

To be decided obviously but the super friends clique has turned out to be a complete disaster, don't see how it could be any worse. Atleast a Matthews-Eichel duo could be based around being competitive with eachother.

Marner going home tonight to check his bank account.

Weak excuse.

1. Marner plays 2:30 of PK time a game, nothing crazy

2. Other top players like Aho, Barkov, Bergeron, Marchand etc all do it as well
What excuse dude. I'm saying marner isn't capable of doing this yet. How is a statement an excuse?

Then, since he's not capable, let him focus on offence instead. I don't see how what I'm saying is weak but okay whatever you say man.

I think trading for Eichel would be a massive mistake. The Leafs are deep at center and Tavares is not getting traded. The team's glaring need is on defense so spending 10 million on another centerman is the last thing they should do.

The bottom line is the Leafs have $40 million locked up in 4 forwards -- they lack proper team balance -- this is not a recipe for success. Dubas must be in on Seth Jones and if that doesn't pan out, he needs to dangle a Marner or Nylander for a D equivalent, or close to it.

The top-heavy, skilled forwards approach has failed miserably so far. The Leafs need a top pairing D and a long-term solution in goal that they can hand their hats on. Andersen nor Campbell are the answer -- they are alright goaltenders but not the rock a champion club builds around.

At this point he has negative value
I’d leave him exposed to Seattle and hope they bite on him and that crazy contract

Lol and when I started a thread to seriously ask for opinions they were like /thread, end of discussion. Whatever, this guy is beyond pathetic for how he argued for the contract and what he is actually producing.

He can win 15 Stanley cups in his career and won't have 1 cup won because of him.

For the record I was one of the few that said I would have traded his ass back then.
I think it’s disgusting the contracts those 3 got for what they showed. And how did they reward the leafs by quitting when the battle got tough
