I’ve been on plenty of Leaf forums the last 25 years and this board is easily the most morose and the one with most toxicity at times. I’m not saying we should all be “rah, rah”, but this place can resemble a playoff loss atmosphere, even after a couple of bad games. TBF, it’s also the most knowledgeable, so there’s that.
The thing is that a lot of Leafsnation are too invested in players, not just Leafs but also players the Leafs could get(draft, trade or sign).

Like if a player is available and went to another team for a mid round pick, some here will go all up in arms and say MGT is stupid not to make that trade as that player is what Leafs need….

Same with Leafs players, I think some here just feel connected to those players and not just as a fan but more than that. I do hope they really have a real relationship with those players or it is borderline stalking and scary.

Hopefully someone is going to through the tapes to deduct the low calorie ones he piles up. See what the real number is.
Why dont those who watched the game and were impressed by Marner summarize what impressed them so much about his play? Instead of the a trolling posts?

2) Trolling: Do not make posts that could be interpreted as though they were made to cause an argument or provoke others. Making generalizations about other posters is a common form of trolling. Posting questionable content on team boards, particularly those of rivals, is likely to be seen as trolling.

Yeah, there's always seems to be a few that take this stuff way too seriously in that they're under the delusion that the player would want the same emotional connection with them as they do the player. Right off the bat I'm reminded of the Robbie Alomar stuff a few years back.

Myself? I've only ever cheered for the crest. When a favorite player gets traded, I rarely pay much attention to how they're doing on their new team.

I'll bite, my take on his game last night is an elite empty calorie game.
BTW, you're not being trolled, it's more like........posters think your takes are ridiculous.

Just had a look at his comparative, team, all time team stats. If he signs another contract, he's pretty much a lock to become the all time leader in points, and in significantly less games than anyone else.
He may lead in points for a time but it’s more likely he’ll be second to Matthews by the time their careers are over. Still remarkable when you consider the history of this team.

Did you post that as a reminder for yourself or others?

Back to Marner, thought he played well. Wasn’t anything special but was involved in 3 of the goals. Matthews PP goal starts with him throwing the puck on net and generating a good rebound in traffic. Kind of what we’ve been needing on the PP. 2nd Matthews goal was a good simple play on the boards and then absorbs the hit to create a lane for Matthews and Matthews does the rest. Nylander goal was on the tape and caught NJ sleeping. Not flashy plays but effective plays that creating scoring opportunities.

I do want him scoring more goals and shooting more. 1 SOG isn’t great, but he made good plays tonight that contributed to the win. Not sure what more you can ask for from all the big guys? Unless I’m missing something.

Irrational hate?

yes it is irrational and I've never understood it, i don't know why we are shitting on a guy for making good simple plays. If it was so easy, bobby mcmann and all our other 3rd and 4th liners would be just as good as Marner. There's a reason those guys aren't up with Matthews and not getting looks with Matthews, they can't make the plays that Nylander and Marner can make on a nightly basis.

That being said, I really wanna see Domi with Matthews!! Domi was awesome last night, put him with good players.

It’s pretty amazing that an NHL player making $11 million dollars can make a pass through no defenders on 3v3 hockey. Simply mindblowing stuff
You better if you can't score, are a small soft winger and want Matthews/Draisaitl money. Hat trick vs Wings, breakaway on Jarry and empty netter vs Bruins in last 24 games. 17 goal pace. One goal better than his playoff pace.
