Most people are fine with 12 million based on the 92.5 cap, that 13%. Let's say the floated 97 mil cap increase gets approved, now you're at 12.6 million same %.
According to a poll on the main boards, 69% say $10M would be the most they would want their team to give him (on a 7 year deal). Fewer than 6% say over $12M.

he has really utilized his shot since matthews has been out

6 goals and he is not looking to instantly pass.

We need to keep him and JT together, they've been bringing the best of each other this season
At best, they'll keep them apart for a game or two, and then Matthews will force him back into his line.
JT looked just as good with Nylander & Patches, so I don't think he needs Marner as much as Marner needs him right now.

Typically vague answer. I provide facts, you provide nothing.
I provided the answer to your question. You provided a stat that wasn't relevant to the discussion, so I tried to help you realize that defense and goaltending are different things.

That's a large party of why you are such a joke here.

Do you really think 'I used stats' is a useful response?

He's playing well now, but let's see what he does in the playoffs.

I'd rather Shesterkin at 13 than him at 11-12 anyways.

The main boards? Seriously? Most anti Leaf place on earth. Irrelevant.
They aren't lying. He is a good player and is performing at his top level. The 10m range is exactly what he makes. 10.9m or no change in pay is what a lot of posters have said is fair. No raise.

Why is 10-10.9m an obscene range. It's just hockey guys saying I would pay him 10m or so.

You don't have to over complicate it.

According to a poll on the main boards, 69% say $10M would be the most they would want their team to give him (on a 7 year deal). Fewer than 6% say over $12M.
And that's actually pretty fair and accurate. They think people are going to troll what people think a good player is worth. If they were saying 7m it's a joke but 10m range is what he makes now.

Interesting Kyper seems to have taken the role of Dreger for this round of contract negotiations for the Marner camp. Off-ice toxicity seems to follow Marner everywhere. I remember Mitch walking out on his London Knights teammates due to role/ice time until Hunter had to visit and get him back.

You realize the cap goes up for every team, right? If you think Marner can't get more than what the Leafs offer him in the open market, you're flat out delusional.

A team is going to pay Mitch Marner $14 mill AAV over 7-years? I guess I’m delusional then.

All the best to the team that signs him to that contract.

$11.5 million over 8 years would be the easy breezy sweet spot for Marner. Taking no less than Nylander, which is obviously important, no ego flex, feels team friendly-ish from a relative cap increase POV, still generational money. If he took that on this round it would feel like you could live with it and still build something around him.

If the negotiations are contentious and the ask/demand creeps into Mackinnon and Matthews territory, with threats to test the market, it probably won’t end up in a good spot.
