He had a career high of 30 goals when he got that contract. 40 goals did not factor into that contract. And you were given quite a few examples of players that never hit 40.

He won the Hart, eh? Sounds like hockey people don't dismiss playmaking like you're trying to.

Who said hockey people dismiss playmaking?

If Marner wins the Hart or Art Ross, he’d be asking for 15M.

Is Marner a good player? Yes.
Is he worth 12M? No.
Is saying he’s not a 12M dollar player dismissing all passers in the league? No.

Stop the strawman.

Laughable, absolutely laughable analysis. I honestly don't know how you keep going when literally everyone else is applauding his performance. Even those who don't want to re-sign him are acknowledging how well he's playing right now.
Guys, Antroputz is right. Marner had zero impact on that McMann goal. Not only that, but he had nothing to do with the overtime winner, either.

imo Berube should send him out as a lone forward every once in a while even if we're supposed to be even strength, force him be the play driver. my prediction (backed up by some of the data posted itt) is that he would struggle to drive play in this scenario. which is pretty damning really

Who said hockey people dismiss playmaking?
You did, when you pretended that players need to hit some arbitrary goal mark to get paid, despite a long history of that not being true.
Is Marner a good player?
Yes, obviously.
Is he worth 12M?

No, but your multiple posts dismissing playmaking impacts to overemphasize goals and create weird goal-related criteria and imaginary cap limits for playmakers is very dismissive of playmaking.

Why will Matthews get more pesos then Marner is it
A his playmaking ability
B His shoting ability.
C His overall ability.

I would guess B. And C... being a center that is. If they are somewhat equal on D etc. It must be the sniper skills that get u the extra money.

Only good at sniping or playmaking and not D, is another topic.

That’s because he’s not a 12M dollar player. He can’t score at a high enough rate. He needs other players to score for him. I would prefer a player who can generate himself.. as would most.

I remember hearing how Domi can easily replace what Marner brings.

We don't know what Marner will get, but it's going to come down to his relative quality and overall impact, not his playstyle.
That’s because he’s not a 12M dollar player.
He is though. There's really no argument otherwise. There is no goal total or playstyle criteria to be paid like that. Playmaking is valuable, whether you want to admit it or not, and plenty of playmakers have made the equivalent and more without hitting 40 goals.
I would prefer a player who can generate himself.
He does generate himself. There's more to generating goals than who last touched the puck.

You know Marner since hes in the NHal producing goal at the same rate g/game than Stone, Larkin, Meier, miller, hyman, pavelski,

higher rate than Svechnikov, strutzle, keller, konecny, oreilly, kopitar, hischier, gaudreau

Great - can we get him at the cap hit as one of those players too?
