I've never said this so why respond to my post with this nonsense? You remind me of that guy that keeps changing the subject to Kucherov when he's out of arguments but in any case, this strawman argument adds nothing to the conversation.

As far as Nylander is concerned, he has delivered good value for his cap hit in the playoffs, Marner has not. That fact that Marner and Nylander have been decent compareables over the last few years only shows what a disappointment Marner has been considering he has been making more than 50% more than Nylander which is quite the gap.

Someone mentioned it earlier and I didn’t really notice it before but I am noticing it is kinda true. You tend to bring emotion into the posts a lot instead of just replying to the topic of discussion, or you take a rebuttal as a personal attack towards you often.

I don’t think he said anything that would be considered nonsense. It’s just normal discourse on Marner and an opposing point of view

And actually - it’s basically the story of the Maple Leafs that is most interesting these days. It’s like a tragedy that you can’t look away from. Part of me hopes that they’ll get over the hump, part of me wants to watch Dangle etc be sad yet again.

But what strikes me is that some never learn, including leafs management and some of its fans. And I would really like to understand.

Last playoffs, I watched this entitled child (MM) throw a fit on the bench and fumble yet again. People were, righty, furious with him and wanted him gone. So what’s changed? He’s back to regular season Marner and now you want to throw even more money on him and depend on a roster setup that has not worked?? I would like for Amazon or whatever to deep dive into the mind of these peeps and/or the leafs back office

I wouldn't even watch or follow if I truly felt like some here. We're in first place, he's playing great and I like our new style, should translate better to playoff hockey. The cap is rising fast moving forward, JT's big contract is coming off the books, we can easily afford a Marner now, so the doom patrol is just negative people projecting imo. 13 x 8 with a 20 percent cap rise over two years is completely doable and hardly over the top.

Understandable but most these people are right to have a pessimistic view on marner it’s very much what a sane person should expect he’s looking for an even bigger piece of the pie and hasn’t performed worthy of his last piece put Matthews in that category as well and nylander this year if he doesn’t perform

Nobody makes people watch the team. I just can't imagine hating a guy that's on the ice 40 percent of the game, seems a bad way to live life. If they're failures and losers, click off and do a puzzle or something lol.

I'm with u on his struggles sorta.
I'm even with you on the hissy fit. Nylander was "the hero we never knew we needed" in that scenario, telling Matty and Mitch to stop crying for once. Loved it.

But you don't say, "that's enuff for you Mitch!" - greatest visionary this team has ever seen. Just cuz we're angry. Just cuz we continually miss the next round by 1 frickin shot every year. True these 3 boys couldn't even tie their laces up right the first few goes - poor JT! lol...

But i think hockey is crazy and random and there's probably more to be said for Matty and his lackluster effect on the team every year. But really, its not the individuals. If youre looking for a lightning rod for your pain, frustration, PTSD, we can all find one. The bottom line is just deeper.

Ovi - a loser til he did it.
Yzerman - loser til he did it.
Kane, Toews, Stammer - all the same.
When the team does it, they all get their narratives changed.

I hate me some Mitch Marner and his bitchmade antics. But you'd never tell it from me. Cuz I ain't a child. I know it takes more than a single guy to have this curse lifted. But - to Mitch's credit, my guy is playing like a man right now. Like The Man, even. Like, saved our Season so far. Like, people talking about The Hart trophy on the telecasts, for gawds sake.

I'll back up on all that l, don't get me wrong - but... you simply have to pay your good players. Bottom line. Youre not getting anyone else to come here, so stop dlooking. He's here - and you just have to get the cast around them to buy in. And with the D vets in Tanev and Cabe and OEL, and the goalies killing it for a change - you let Mitch be Mitch and sincerely hope he fu****g gets it this time.

I think people just want to win. They see players asking for record amounts % wise despite not winning. A lot of the high % contracts were sunsets. We haven't even made it to high noon with these guys.

Forgive me if I get concerned about losing Knies, Cowan, Stolarz, Woll or anyone else that could help us win and then replace them with a Holmberg because, he came cheap.

What you’re saying is what the deniers have been preaching now for years, but let me put it this way - in game 7 last spring, Nylander scored the go-ahead goal, assisted be Matthews. Marner, being the Selke-level two-way force that he is, on the other hand, lost his marking and let Pastrnak run away from him, which led to the Maple Leafs being eliminated.

If youre blaming marner on pastrnak goal, you clearly never played hockey of your life... What Marner had to do what to cut passing lane to pastrnak and closing up the middle, that's exactly what he did. Rielly job was to be sure and be 1st on puck after the dump because that what the guy behind should do in a 1-3-1... But that's not what's happened.

And if matthews line would not cost 2 goal in 3 of 4 first game, maybe this serie never goes in 7 because it was the main difference between game 1 to 4 than game 5-6-7...

Remove those goal

-gm 2-1 unstead of 4-1
-gm 3 : 2-1 win unstead a 3-2 lost
-gm 4 a 1-1 tie gm 3

that's the difference between winning and losing and maybe unstead of trailing 3-1, they would maybe lead 3-1...

Did Marner need to be better in playoff? yeah for sure and everyome is agree with this but its the same with Matthews, Nylander and JT... none of those player was even close to be good enough. I just don't like double standard acting like Marner was trash and the rest was better when it was not the case.
