You need to stop with the lies I believe the random hf posters that tell me he sucked because they know more than silly stats

So you believe those numbers are predominantly due to the use of Marner and not McDavid.

So I take that to mean you believe Marner is better than McDavid. Good to know.

How much time did McDavid have the puck on his stick V Marner

Probably not, It is because of how well the line played.

Why are people acting like Marner has never scored a big goal before? Him scoring now means nothing tbh as far as the narrative goes.

Had that been the goal that won the tournament for Canada now that is narrative breaking

Listen to Cooper's full comments on Mitch .. he is bang on correct .. Mitch has trouble in fast up/down games like last night .. now at 3 on 3 things even out as he has more time and space with puck and his edgework and stickhandling can be showcased ,, i was surprised Mitch played with McJesus as they play 2 totally different non-complimentary games .. but give Mitch credit when he went on in OT with Crosby .. he was able to find a lane and Crosby figured it out
Yes, Cooper said this :
When you are that size, you have to be unique at something,” Cooper said. “You have to be better than everyone else at something. If you really watch that game, the plays he made in tight, the plays he made in traffic… He is not the fastest kid on the ice. He doesn’t have the hardest shot on the ice. He doesn’t do a whole bunch of things that a lot of guys on both teams do better than him. But it is really hard to sit here and say, ‘Was there a better player?’

“He puts himself at that elite level with the way he thinks the game and processes the game at such a high level and at such a high rate of speed. That is why he is the player he is. I have watched him close up. I have coached against him in a playoff series. I have watched what he can do. There are not too many guys who can excel as a power play player, a penalty killer, a 5-on-5 guy, and at 3-on-3. Mitch can do it all.”

Now ask Cooper if he wants all 4 of them at the price they will be paid. I bet he has a different answer
Perhaps. I didn't ask hem about Marner in the first place. A poster asked for others to listen to Coopers full comments on Mitch, so I did.

If we overpay Marner. We certainly don't get McDavid. Cooper's biggest divisional nightmare is Toronto with McDavid Matthews and Nylander.

Pretty simple stuff

Marner is a good player but the issues everyone has with him is his contract and his potential future contract. If Marner signed 8 years 8.5 million after his ELC he wouldn’t be getting the amount of hate he does.

Marner put up 19 points in 13 games over Tampa in their 2 series, so yeah he obviously should be a bit respectful.

Right. If Willy was 6.9m and Marner 8.5m with Matthews about 10m and JT never existed this team would likely already be in a conference final or two. Shanahan and Dubas tried to reinvent the hockey wheel and blew the whole rebuild to shit.

And to your point. Nobody cares about paying for what you want. They care about overpaying for what you want. 13m will be buyers remorse in no time

I said yesterday that the little things that Marner does on the ice were not appreciated by most fans.
Well, the coach does.
In any event, Marner does not have the speed to mesh with mcdavid.
I’d rather see him with Sid.

Buyers remorse would be Tavares at 7 mil for 3 years.
Cooper said Marner oozes confidence. That's a bunch of crap and also why you shouldn't listen to Cooper.

There is a reason Toronto reporters are the ones talking about that goal being a confidence booster for Mitch... Because Dubas, Keefe and Marner himself have, for years, talked about Marners brittle confidence.

The thing about Marner is that when he's under heat, they pull the sympathy "he cares too much card" but then at this tournament Cooper says "that kid oozes confidence".

Usually the people with the fragile confidence need constant reassurance.

Cooper is his current coach which is why I should listen to Cooper. Also, Cooper isn't in the Toronto Media. In fact, it is the Toronto media who has suggested that Marner has as you say, brittle confidence.

Reactions: JT AM da real deal
Main board said he sucked - they know nothing
Analysts and former NHL players said he sucked - they know nothing

..... yep everybody is wrong but the small group of Marner fans on the Leaf board. Note that even @Smif in the main board thread agreed that Mcdavid and Marner didn't work well together.

So Marner was great..but he Mcdavid and Marner weren't good together? The only line Marner was on?
You keep putting words in my mouth and I really don't appreciate it. I said I didn't love the fit with McDavid's speed and Marner's ability to slow the game down and use his high IQ game. I prefer Marner with others on team Canada, personally. I also said (and it was my main point) that.Marner and Reinhart both need more time to figure out how to play with McDavid because he's such a unique player BUT they will figure it out with more time than just one game together.

What everyone in hear should be doing is shutting up and trusting Cooper who I believe is a top 5 coach if not the best coach in the NHL.

So... just to clarify, Corrado, Biz, Carter, O'Neill and Mcclennan all said Marner didn't play well in regulation. I've yet to see any former NHL player say they thought Marner had a good game.

But let's all believe that coach Cooper said. Naa he couldn't be saying nice things to keep Marners confidence high...not like that wouldn't be important to the coach.

Of course, you believe the guy that is there over the ones watching on TV.
