Its kind of weird that half of the quality chances in the game were from that line and yet people were crapping on it like it wasnt working.
People see what they want to see I guess.

Marner's sneaky little passes to set up prime chances are going to go in sooner or later though. Those shooters are too good to not convert. I remember McDavid gave Marner the "my bad" look on one great chance during the game last night. Just made the wrong move in close.

I dont think, I know..

Berube has been repeating since day 1 that he wants 2 players at the net at all times. Watch Matthews line when Marner doesnt have the puck...Marner typically is up high.

Berube in post games numerous times repeats that players aren't going to the net enough.

Comparables outside the organization. Would you rather Willy 11.5m or Necas 6.9m. Rantanen or Nylander? Rantanen was let go of over 250k more in a year with higher cap.

I think that about settles it. Rantanen is better than Marner and Nylander btw. Seems Necas is better than Marner and Nylander as well with his linemates in COL

Since when is tempering expectations and not being hyperfantastical like a giddy teen undermining? Just saying it wasn't a great showing. He got the goal which is great but it doesn't make a 13m player. Your camp has one mission, overpay Marner and I have a problem with that because it goes against my goal of winning a cup.

@thewave is wrong...Lol... have you read the main board gdt thread? Marner was the most hated player going into OT.

@Smif was in that thread. @Smif could you enlighten us on what fans were saying? Were people happy with Marners play?

Fact is, if you think Marner was good, then YOU are the minority.

LOLOL. Do tell, how does what anyone says on an internet forum undermine him, or any other hockey player? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's interested in what you have to say on the subject so please, take all the time you need.

Didn’t you know that saying Mitchell Marner didn’t have a great game is undermining him?

Great goal, happy to see it, but an honest assessment would say he looked a step behind. Just like in the season, I never put any stock into a goal scored 3 on 3 shinny hockey. Maybe it’s a confidence builder for him.

Yes the main board. Clearly and historically the best place to get the most honest and nuanced takes on Leafs players.
The coach of team Canada thought Marner was good so I guess he is in the minority but what the hell does he know right?

See GoonieFace, some of us are talking hockey mixed with some spirit and whipping it up to keep it fun and interesting, not trolling but laying down facts with a little smack. Test group B, you know those other guys approach this like they are the Ferris himself and we are in a boardroom or something.

Deep down they know and I get it you can make a few bucks online to promote things that aren't true. To each their own it's all in good fun. To credit Marner, I have never seen anyone score so much on a muffin shot like that. He has a talent for the offspeed shot from across the pond.
 
It was a 3 on 3 overtime goal Marner scored yesterday fanboys. That’s right up his alley. Let’s tone it down a little here.


Let me know when he does this in the playoffs, then I will give him his due.
