You simply can't play him 27 minutes. He's not McDavid even though some of his fans think he is better.
You can make fancy passes all you want, but if you are a choke artist when it matters, no one will pay attention to your assist numbers.
He should pay more attention to Nylander on how to play correctly.

I still like him a lot as a player but that contract is just such an albatross.

Marner plays like if his stick goes in the net with the puck it counts for 8 goals. He needs just stop over doing it and use your skill to make the simple play that others take a few extra seconds to make.

Magic Marner at it again. He's only going when Matthews is. Not exactly what a 11 million player should be doing. How about not playing passanger to your centre? If Nylander played like that, he would be forced to retire.
Matthews had the effort. Marner just choked.

Mikko Rantanen is right up there with the best wingers in the game and a complete power play beast, fantastic skater and size similar to an Auston Matthews. I mean support our guys, but to poo poo Rantanen just doesn’t for me. He’d probably be my second favourite Leaf if he was on our team.

Jumbo and Mik looked bad to da eye test .. like brutal bad .. Nash did nothing bad which is how he always plays but you could see he was game rusty which is entirely expected .. so stats seem to back up da eye test in this game .. Mitch plays perimeter hockey so i guess that inflates his numbers but he was bad to da eye test too

I thought kerfoot was noticably bad. Mitch has played better but saying he was a go to person to blame is a bit of a joke. Say what you will but he actually played better than most on the team. The hatred runs deep here and looking at the numbers, it wasn't even particularly close.

Deal him for Seth Jones in the off-season. Columbus desperately needs a playmaker for Laine, we need a massive Hedman like presence on the back end with a booming point shot for the power play.

It’s annoying how much his play falls off in the playoffs. He’s not our Kane. Kane was so good in the playoffs and for some reason Marner just can’t do it.

Matthews really needs to up his game as well especially with Tavares out. These two wanted to get paid as much as possible, and now its time for them to earn it and show that they're worth it when the games matter the most.

He was fine that game. His underlying numbers were probably pretty good (haven't checked them personally yet).

Though ultimately he and Matthews will be looked to lead the team offensively next game with actual production

Expecting a 3 point game from marner next game. He was buzzing in game 1 but failed to finish probably due to nerves and seeing his captain collapse on the ice from the perry incident.

Hopefully he is more stable game 2, and he and Matthews get ready to put on a show.

Fast teams that neutral zone trap are Mitch's kryptonite .. he lacks straight line foot speed to beat it .. and he lacks size/power to beat them .. I don't expect anything from Mitch in this series .. but Matty should be able to make it happen with Zach

Marner is goal less in his last 12 playoff games and only 6 assists while being gift wrapped over 20 minutes of ice time in 11 of those games.

Nylander has 3 goals and 4 assists in that same time frame while playing over 20 minutes just once.
