Their top 6 fwds are fantastic, and Kerfoot+Mikheyev are good too. But because of the cap they have no depth outside those ~11 skaters really.

I know it’s 2019 but there’s no one on that roster who could toss a couple punches against someone else’s visor for 20 seconds or so? It's not like they’re being asked to dance with a Bob Probert or Dave Brown...

Physical doesn't mean fighting anymore, it does mean going into the dirty areas in the corners and in front of the net, and hounding people and leaning on them on defense - you know, the way the Flyers have been playing this season!

I mean, he is not good defensively, or even average, but makes up for it the other way. A net + overall.

But still easily better CA, SA, ExGA etc than Hagg since he entered the NHL for example... with tougher QoC and worse QoT (albeit easier zone starts by some way!)

On a team that can't play defense, the first priority is not to add an offensive defenseman that can't play defense.
When you trade Kadri and a 3rd rd pick (though they got Kerfoot as well), and get a guy making $6M, I sure hope he's better than Hagg.

Barrie is on $2.75m for Toronto because of retained salary. That was part of the reason they made the move as they are so f***ed with the cap;.

They should have really not signed Ceci and re-signed Gardiner, who was ran out of town for his D... when actually he was fine, arguably 2nd best on team after Muzzin purely defensively even with his mistakes. Dermott being injured does not help either.

I mean, he signed Cody Ceci... so whatever analytics he was looking at, hmmm. The only positive he has really ever had from a data percpective is he is good at zone entries.

That trade was a cap move for the Leafs. He basically had to take anything the Sens would give them for Ziatsev

They did not need to resign him this summer for $4.5m though... could have let him walk for cap relief and got a better Dman for cheaper.
