Dude what?! If that was the offer, yeah you do.Cant trade Laughton for a winger right now

Cap would be tight though.

If we are trading with Toronto, Hagg has to be thrown in somewhere.
If you think it's great value, you worry about the rest later. Laughton isn't good enough to pass up that kind of value. Especially when you have a guy in LHV that is probably just as good right now with significantly more upside. Probably more than one actually.I mean..value wise it's a great trade for us....but with the uncertainty around Patrick and the reluctance to promote Frost yet..we would be in bad shape at 3C. I think it's a trade they make without second thought with a healthy roster but might hesitate with the situation they are in. I guess they could be okay with short-term pain for long-term gain. Just use Giroux at C until they think Ruby or Frost are ready for it.

But it's a ridiculous proposal that will never happen.
Benn and Rubtsov for JVR would be awesome.. Stars GM hates Benn.
we need to get to cup finals while Giroux still has wheels... or you have someone in pipeline to replace him? talent wise. The Stars are retaining $2.5m for six years? Great.

I did not know that you watched stars... do you? There's a thing called a salary cap.
Also, Benn's wheels have already come off.
Go look at how Stars fans talk about him.I did not know that you watched stars... do you?
if not JVR Voracek...

I think so. Then it was nonis for davey clarkman saga. Was Burke the GM who got JVR for Luke?
Off topic, Brian Burke talking about GM and trades:
You quickly find out there are 10 GM's you won't deal with because they value their players way more than you do so the value for a trade will never line up.
You then find 10 guys you can get in the same area with to have discussions that make sense.
Then you find 10 guys who are more suited to you, Holmgren was one of those guys. Call Holmgren, and he would say I need a defensemen and here are the guys I am willing to trade. So right away, you are in a trade discussion that's realistic. There are no preliminaries with Holmgren. It's like when he fought...you are into the fight right away.
He was asked who tried to screw him over as a young GM...Glen Sather..."he was a pirate"
2nd off topic: Stu Grimson was asked on TSN who liked to fight and was scary. Said Tony Twist loved to fight. Then SN asked Rob Ray who he "feared", and said Tony Twist. Said Twist caught him on the temple, broke orbital bone, and his face was ballooned up for 8 days.
Yeah I grew up in that era(72 born) and the hype for fights pre-game were always awesome in the 80's/90's.Twist was an animal and a lot of people of that era mention him in battles. I think Probert used to name him a lot often. Those Norris division teams were almost as bad as the Patrick for their battles.
Another name you'd hear a lot was Behn Wilson.
