Sort of enjoying the Leafs mess with Nylander. I don't blame him for wanting at least what Pastrnak got from the Bruins (6/40). Its not his problem that the Leafs have Matthews' and Marner's deals staring them in the face. All three of these guys should get market value on an extension. Toronto should have thought about this before they went and gave Tavares what they did. If they could afford to do Tavares they can pony up for the other guys. Also they can stick the concept of hometown discount where the sun doesn't shine. Why should they accept less money to play in Toronto? I'd bet that the Rags, Isles and others are going to be willing to give these guys what they want.
Hockey careers can be over in a nano second. They should get it while they can. This all should be a warning shot for Hextall. Get Provorov signed long term ASAP. The same for Patrick.

Anaheim got him & Sam Steel with picks in a trade with Toronto for Andersen. Earlier in the decade in 2011 they swapped first rounders with Toronto giving up an early second rounder which netted Anaheim Rakell & Gibson. Toronto took Tyler Biggs who never played in the NHL.
