To be fair 90% of us and the league laughed at the majority of the team they picked from jump street, and they've just continued to perform greatly
100%. They draw a lot of jealousy, but they are either the best or second-best managed team in hockey, with an owner who is willing to let them do whatever it takes to win. They're a model franchise, and people who are mad at them should really be mad at their own team for not being more like them.

I saw someone make a point about Vegas earlier on Twitter. They don’t really get credit for moving off players they didn’t really see fit from a salary cap/contractual standpoint. The conventional thing to do would be just deal with it out of the sake of “doing the right thing”. But they haven’t even when the conventional thinkers have claimed it will have players sour on them (which it hasn’t because players want to win).

I feel like Vegas is the Flat Cap version of the pre-cap Flyers. Chase championships at all costs, riverboat gamble, spend big on big talent, figure shit out after. It’s a wild path to a championship — not conventional — but it’s not haphazard because you can’t be haphazard today.

If Seattle wins the cup or has a lot of success in the next few years I wonder how these expansion teams will be viewed historically

The takeaway is that teams should gamble on stars with back issues. Time to build around Couturier for a 2023-2024 run.

Hill is straight up feeling himself right now
