Penguins moving in the right direction- they hire Katerina Wu as a data scientist. She’s 22 and did a capstone project with the Penguins on comparative analytics and analysis in designing new statistics on player performance across different leagues. Looks like a very bright woman who will make a difference. Good for them.

No I think what you meant to say was "f*** them" not "Good for them."

The Walt Disney Company, ESPN and National Hockey League Reach Groundbreaking Long-Term Agreement - ESPN Press Room U.S.

The Walt Disney Company, ESPN and the National Hockey League have reached a historic and innovative seven-year television, streaming and media rights deal, taking the new partnership from the beginning of the 2021-22 season through the 2027-28 season.

The visionary, first-of-its-kind agreement brings the NHL back to Disney and ESPN platforms and illustrates the unique position of The Walt Disney Company to bring the best hockey in the world to millions across its unparalleled collection of media platforms.

It is highlighted by: exclusive coverage of the Stanley Cup Final on ABC in four of the seven years of the agreement, with the ability to simulcast/megacast on ESPN+ and additional ESPN networks; the return of live NHL action to ESPN networks with 25 exclusive national regular-season games on ABC or ESPN; 75 national regular-season games per season produced by ESPN that will stream exclusively on both ESPN+ and Hulu; half of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on ABC and ESPN each season; and coverage annually of NHL’s Face-off (opening night games), the NHL All-Star Game and Skills Challenge, plus other NHL special events each season.

Additionally, the NHL’s out-of-market streaming package, with more than 1,000 games (formerly on NHL.TV), will now be available for fans to stream only as part of an ESPN+ subscription.

The agreement also includes extensive highlight rights that will add to coverage across ESPN’s year-round news and highlights programming, and to coverage on the ESPN App and social media. International media rights – including in Latin America, the Caribbean and parts of Europe – are also part of the agreement.

NHL.tv will be no more and will be absorbed by ESPN+. That is honestly great news.

Per Coach Krueger, Jack Eichel will miss at least a week with an upper-body injury.

Looks like easy points for Penguins. Hopefully, I am wrong, tho.

Cant wait for the cost of my ESPN+ subscription to increase tenfold!

I read the article online and it breaks this part down a bit more: half of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on ABC and ESPN each season.

It says they will get early round series coverage and get one of the conference finals each year. They will also get 4 SCF series.

I would have liked to have seen more than 25 regular season games, but the streaming aspect will be nice, as long as my $5.99/month subscription doesn't go to $25/month. My guess is that they will start having different streaming packages.

It definitely won't be available in Canada, given the Sportsnet rights and the NHL Live package. Can't speak for other countries, though.

That's all I wanted to know - as long as it doesn't affect Gamecenter, I don't really care one way or another.

It really should be NBC but Fox is trying to be in the mix. NBC has more space to give, they’ve got the groundwork already in with production and on-air talent but, again, Fox has more tools. In multiple senses of the word.

NBC has also proven that they f***ing suck. Then again, so has ESPN. Meh. Hockey is stupid anyway.
