Nah man. Tomato pie is the ****. I like cheese on top too but nothing wrong with a legit sicilian tomato pie. It's all about how flavorful the sauce is.

Tomato pie is tremendous and that crust looks great. But tomato pie is different depending on where you are. I never, ever saw it with cheese of any kind growing up, so it means something different to me -- that exactly minus cheese.

Beefette tasked me with surprising her for dinner, so long as it was something good. I got a tomato pie.

I still get lashed for the time I got a "cheeseless pizza."

Sicilian tomato pie has cheese underneath. That's the difference I believe.

Same.

There's place near me that adds so much chopped carrots to their sauce (to thicken it) that it's almost more orange than red and it's really sweet... so bad.

Funnily enough, when I was a kid my dad owned pizza shops and his pizza was great, so maybe I'm subconsciously spoiled from that and that's why the other pizza shops can't compete. Could also be that I had so much access to pizza that it lost its novelty for me. It wasn't a treat, it was omnipresent.

Same with Italian food for me. Grow up in an Italian family and eating Italian out looses its appeal.

Great things happening today in these threads. Getting hungry. Maybe Jake, Benny and the rest of us should go out to eat tonight.

I tried De Lorenzo's in Trenton, which I'm told is world renowned tomato pie, and thought it was just ok. Didn't live up to the hype.

On a side note, if there's any hoagie enthusiasts here, try Mazzanti's in Bristol Boro. Best Italian you'll ever have and they seasonally do roasted pork which is phenomenal as well.

So many good pizza places around me it's ridiculous. There use to be a pizza hut that sold to a guy who just changed the sign and made it a Liquor Hut.

Huh? Didn't they have a deal with Root sports? I thought they ended up with one of the largest coverage areas in the nation. A lot of it is nothingness but I terms of shear area size it's huge.

That used to be my spot. When I was a kid my Grandma used to take me there for the lunch buffet when I had half days.

"Chicago" style is not pizza, it's a casserole

Chicago style doesn't only include Deep Dish

We have Chicago style thin crust as well which is pizza that we eat most of year and is common thru much of Midwest

Chicago Thin is crispier and cut into squares compared to NY style

I understand saying you prefer the pizza chains for the people that live out of town, but in the rough tri-state area?! What?!

Don't even get me started on Canadian pizza, at least in BC. I'd order Domino's too. THE SAUCE DOES NOT GO ON TOP OF THE CHEESE.

Let me just say that on the East Coast in Canada, we do not put the sauce on top. I never even heard of a tomato pie until I read this thread.

We take our pizza very seriously here....as well as our donairs. HOME, of the real donair. Here is a screenshot of the area I live and the pizza places. There are 11 in this small area as well as 4 more just outside this map. So 15 pizza places and our area population is 5,500 people...lol.

Looking at the standings it's pretty hilarious seeing the Penguins with a -10 goal differential and 15GA after only 2 games.

I still have zero idea what a donair actually is to this day despite watching Trailer Park Boys.
