Miscellaneous NHL Discussion CXIII: 2026 Offseason Happenings

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Prepare for pain. It's going to happen.

Im not sure we should expect anything less than pain. Don’t they still have the same pro scouts that they’ve had for decades at this point?

Not sure why any of us should expect anything other than Idiocracy level player personnel decisions if that’s still the case (largely having the same pro scouting department personnel).

At this point, my only hope is that there is retention and we don't trade a 1st

Hey guys - Sens fan here

Im curious as to why Tippett's name seems to come up fairly often in trade buzz the last year or so. Seems like a fine player.

Is there smoke or is it all BS from wannabe insiders?
Sens would love to have him but IDK what the ask would be if he were actually available

Please, take him. He's ugly and overrated.

Good prime age player on a good contract and the Flyers are loaded with wingers (Martone, Michkov, Konecny, Foerster, Bump, Barkey, and then Zegras played half the season at wing). They don't have a lot of expendable assets to fill their other holes (Center and a top dman). Most fans would much rather trade Konecny at this point, but his contract isn't great and he's a few years older.

Personally I don't want to trade Tippett unless its in a deal for a 1C. Not many players in the NHL are as good at getting through the NZ.

Ahh ok. So it's mostly to get a C?

He had a great year but can be pretty frustrating to watch at times. Some low IQ plays. Since we have a lot of wingers, it would probably be wise to sell high.

What's selling high on him look like in terms of a return?

FWIW, The Sens best assets this year are Hensler and 25th. Otherwise the standard future picks and such.

If DB has even a modicum of sense, every decision he makes this offseason needs to be focused on finding someone with at least an outside shot of growing into a 1C. Our C depth is dire (Zegras who they're not fully committed to being a C, Dvorak, Cates, and Couturier, with them trying to shove a square Barkey into a round hole because Luchanko and Nesbitt are concerningly far from panning out), and without fixing that, we will never take that next step.

Pinto or Cozens need to be the target in a trade with Ottawa, because nothing else will help us fix our actual problem (unless Stützle demands out, and even then, he wouldn't end up here. I know he doesn't have trade protection, but you'd get a better offer elsewhere)
