Miscellaneous NHL Discussion CX: That's A Lot.

Crazy to see that Montreal who was in the finals 5 years ago has Suzuki, Demidov, Slaf, Caufield, Hutson, Guhle. Carolina is welcoming Nikishin soon. Flames are welcoming Parekh tonight. Buium going to the Wild soon. Blackhawks have welcomed Lev, Rinzel and Moore recently.

We have Michkov... then Jett Luchanko and nothing else to show for how bad we've been for a decade
Minnesota and Carolina are two very well let franchises.

I mean if Minnesota trades Rossi away simply because they don't like his height, then i think we can call them something other than amazing, but still. They have Buium, Bankier, Yurov, Heidt, Jiricek in their system.

They actually compete and somehow have a much, much, much better pool than us

Fake question: is this a Murica thing?

Serious question: With some of the new rules, do you think more players will go this way? Why wouldn't they all?
I'm sure seeing two of your former teammates force their way to other teams has some influence. Not sure any team gets more out of middle six types than Tampa though so that would be a weird motive. Maybe they weren't able to make any guarantees considering their depth and rather than play the up and down game next year, he just stays in college and gains more leverage.

Chiclets said he may have an NIL deal next year for ~100k. That's about what an NHL signing bonus is. AHL salary is ~70k (I think). I doubt he would spend the whole year in the AHL so he is leaving money on the table next year, but he could cash in on the NIL deal, still get the signing bonus next year, and get to pick his own team if he choses to go that route with a clearer path to cash in on the next contract. I don't think angling for free agency will become common because you have to wait four years to do it. *cough*Gauthier*cough*

Howard is definitely on the cocky side though and may just march to the beat to his own drum.

The Bruins only have 3 games left. Not going to be easy holding on to that 4 spot.

Annoying the Canucks are not going to make it. Could have made a possible race to get Edm out of the playoffs.

Your anti-Bonk agenda is outrageous!

This guy has been running our Drafts since December of 2018. There's your answer.

The first domino in setting back "Retool/Rebuild 10.0" was drafting York over Boldy and Caufield in 2019.

They did okay with Foerster in 2020.

Then they traded their 2021 1st for f***ing Risto and drafted Tuomaala 1 pick before Stankoven in the 2nd.

Gauthier looks like a solid pick in 2022...unfortunately they completely botched their relationship with him then turned him into Jamie the Turnstyle Drysdale.

Just when you think our luck is changing with Michkov in 2023, they pass up on Buium for LAUGHTchanko in 2024.

Pretty hard to overcome that level of incompetence/self-inflicted buffoonery.

Typical Flyers game night.

Win and hurt your draft position just to be forced to be happy for a Cutter Gauthier game tying and game winning goal.
What do you mean forced? We should all be rooting for that kid.

Reminder: the flyers chose Torts over Frost, Farabee, and Gauthier only to fire him a few months later. A+

Just as they have always done. Ship out the good ones that have issues with your stupid coach. See that it has the opposite of the desired outcome, fire and scapegoat the coach. This team is my Gibralter.
