12 NHL teams passed on him. You really think you're smarter than 12 NHL teams??
I have a question. In all seriousness and not in defense of the Flyers passing Buium, why did these other teams let him go by in the draft? I heard one evaluator say before the draft that he felt that Buium should be the first defenseman to go off the board to Chicago. Then he slid down the line. Why did these clubs let him go by them?

The night before the draft, Friedman said he thought he was going 3rd to Anaheim (95% sure it was Anaheim and not Columbus, but check me if it matters to you).

It's impossible to sort through what did and didn't happen when so many organizations' processes are poor.

Can't imagine why only like 3 teams have a chance to win a Cup each season.

I think this has been answered thoroughly by the posts above. Who knows why teams do what they do.

I will say this. I'm no draft expert, but I'm pretty sure everyone taken before him was at least projected to go somewhere in that range. Then you have Jett sticking out like a sore thumb. Yay Flyers

Hey hey. Jett wasn't taken before Buium.

The question that I posed is why did Buium fall? As I said earlier, I was not asking why the Flyers passed on him. Since Levshunov, Yakemshuk, Parekh, Silayev and Dickinson were all taken ahead of Buium, what was the hole in his game that these clubs saw? Was it talent on the ice or did these clubs not want to deal with KO Sports Agency or was it something else like size. Just wondering.

Anyone who says they can answer this is a fool and you should ignore them completely.

It's so difficult because you're not dealing with uniform opinions. Did Anaheim's scouts like him and the GM wanted a Forward? Were the Blue Jackets right down to the wire on deciding between 2 players? We have to remember that the draft is not a comparison of ranked lists. It is only a measure of the top option by one team at each point in time.

It could be that 30 teams had Shane Wright as a top 3 pick. Did he fall or did the low team on him just end up in the wrong spot? It's even more difficult with Buium because he went at the very end of a consensus tier. You will never be able to have the discussion with a shred of meaning.

Let me tell you exactly why.

Anaheims scouts liked him, but the GM wanted a forward.

The Jackets almost took him, but decided to go another direction.
