Passing through waivers means nothing. They never have a career in no small part because they are not allowed to have one.

The Flyers are not going to learn anything about how effective their scouting, drafting, and development are if they refuse to let anyone play on the margins. If they ever want to compete, they're going to need to change that.

Every other team has prospects that they're able to plug in on the 4th line if they want to. If they Flyers don't, then they've failed disastrously at scouting, drafting, and development for a long time.
Danny Briere passed thru waivers

12+28+32 for 8th overall.
12 & 28 should get you to 5-6.
Though it's doubtful anyone would trade down from there.

More interesting moves will be to combine one of the picks in the 30s with one of the picks in the 20s to move up into the teens.
Or combine their own 2nd and a pick in the 30s to move up into the 20s.

Teams often get a 2 for moving down a handful of spots in the low teens. 27 + 32 + 45 got Arizona to 11 a couple of years ago.

12 + 28 I would expect to be the ask for 9ish if a team wanted to move it. Which they probably don’t as you correctly said.

They'll burn the two picks to move up to the mid teens and take a reach

Don't let Pens fans and hockey media tell you Crosby always took discounts to help his team. If the cap is $93m in 25-26 and Bedard signed an extension at the same cap percentage that Crosby did for his first contract, Bedard would be on 5 x $16,085,487.

Something to watch as a Flyer fan:

Georgiev got bombed last night, 62 starts the last two seasons, Sv% fell from .918 to .897 last season.
Annunen is the backup, had a good cameo last year in 12 starts, but still couldn't win the starting job.

Goalie struggles and defensive depth could deep six a top offense.

Flyers have their 1st rd pick.
