How about signing a former 1st overall pick center, captain of the Lightning, and cup champ in his mid 30s?
I honestly don’t think Tampa is a major threat to win anymore. Their prospect pool is barren, they’re aging, they overpaid a lot of depth guys. Could you imagine them even making playoffs if Kucherov sat a year again?
If I’m Guentzel, I think Carolina has a better chance to be the next up and coming Cup team. Their core is younger, they’re loaded on prospects and picks. Always competing for the ECF. I don’t really get it. Unless Carolina wasn’t interested at the price or some behind the scenes reasons.
After the LV and FLA wins, size is seen as the winning edge. Copy Cat league. Maybe speed will beat it but until then big is kingThe list of guys not qualified this year is the craziest post-lockout. So many players who have already proven selves as middle sixers or #4-5 guys.
And yeh, mainly smaller guys.
What is going on...

I am literally in a bojangles right nowThey do have Bojangles and Hardee's going for them. I'd def look like Alejandro Kirk if I lived there.

I like how the league totally skipped over Colorado having a top 4 of Makar, Toews, Girard, and Byram the year they won the Cup.

Was is last year or the year before that Washington picked up Strome & Milano off the scrap heap despite their teams walking away from them at the QO stage? Meanwhile most analytical models suggested these guys shouldn’t be discarded like this.
