Ghost was also fifth in the league in goals against per 60 prior to tonight’s game. Just another reminder of how idiotic the average fan is and how bad Philly sports are.

Yeah, those two empty netters he was on the ice for against Tampa make him a real shit defender.

Edit: Maybe I misunderstood you.

He's also 6th in 5x5 minutes among Carolina D-men.
Walker has an even lower xGA/60, and he's not a defensive maven.
It's just easier to play in a sheltered role in Carolina.

You have spent years shitting on Ghost to defend bad management and coaching decisions and he annually proves you wrong.

You could always choose to stop being wrong in service of failures

fresh off a shutout loss at home Nic Deslauriers is the answer!

Would Ghost have been re-signed when his deal was up? What kind of contract would the Flyers have offered? Would Ghost have wanted to stay?

I can’t answer for if he would have wanted to stay but Ghost is currently signed for 500k /year more than Ristolainen. So remove Ristolainen and add Ghost and we’re in the same cap situation. The front office loves to sign players to 8 year contracts so I’m sure they would have paid him. It’s all hypothetical because the management team clearly didn’t want him or value him at all

There is no same way around the fact that Ghost has always been better than Risto, and so paying to give up Ghost so you can fit Risto and then pay a fortune for him was an unforced huge error the team hasnt recovered from.

There are annual examples of teams successfully making do without far better dmen, and yet somehow this team has been unable to replace Ghost for years.

One would have guessed that "buuuut look how they use him" shouldn't matter when talking about a waiver-unclaimed-ergo-nonNHL-proven player, eh?
