Russo has been pushing the idea that Rossi isn’t a part of the long term plans and even believes he could be traded in season.

And it will backfire in absolute spectacular fashion on Guerin. I look forward to it. I'm sure he wants to bring in another Trenin to make us bigger and tougher. Right, Billy?

I truly do not understand why having depth at center is a bad thing. It was our Achilles heel during our playoff runs in the 2010s. Is Rossi expecting to get $7M+ or something? Could’ve avoided that situation, going long-term on him in the offseason.

If Guerin wants a top 6 wing, maybe we shouldn’t have burned $3.5M on a 4th liner.

The 13-3-3 record aside, did anyone expect this?

Honestly, thinking about this - it doesn't surprise me. One of the biggest criticisms of Hynes is his usage of young players. That's why the Predators lost Tolvanen and I think there were some issues with Hynes and Hughes. As long as Hynes is here - well he's got to single out one young player. I wouldn't be surprised if Hynes is the driving reason behind why the team isn't 100% behind Rossi.

No. Honestly this season reminds me pretty much of last season. The only difference is the goaltending: The Skaters are almost the same (+Spurgs and a few plugs) as last year. But Gus is having a bounce back year so far. Thats the difference between a Playoff team we are at the moment and a bottom 10 team in the league we were last season.

Just imagine what would be possible this year if they could get a good coach and another good winger for the top 6 instead of MaJo......

The difference is also Kaprizov appears to be fully healthy (remember he was still having issues at the beginning of last season), both Rossi and Faber have a season under their belt and we're not running AHL players for depth (Letteri, Lucchini vs Lauko/Khus is a major upgrade).

I am liking Marat quite a bit. His speed is noticeable, he is very competitive in puck battles, and seems to make the smart play most times. If he had someone who could keep up with him he'd have some more points, i think. I've lost count of how many times he's had the puck out on his stick, and had the play fizzle out because of a lack of support.

In many ways he's like a slightly stronger, slightly faster, Dewar.

Our young players are continuing to rack up points. Boldy has 19 points in 18 games, Rossi has 15, and Faber has 10. It’s shaping up to be a strong season.
Fourth-line players Lauko and Khusnutdinov have 4 and 2 points, respectively. Both deserve a bigger role, but what’s most important is that the team is working well as it is.

It would be nice to see Ohgren, or someone else, turn a corner and make a play for a spot on the team. No offense to the Travis Boyd's, Ben Jones, and Devin Shore's, but there isn't any upside there, while there is a possibility with Ohgren, and Bankier... not sure about Milne. He seems like a tweener, to me. Too small/weak for a grind role, not enough skill for a scoring role.

I could see that if Rossi's improved stats brings back something good. Our biggest need would be a C, though, so I don't see anyone trading us back a better C than Rossi, unless he is older, and on a rebuilding team. We don't have the cap space to take on a high salary.

Rossi might not be an elite #1C, but he is already a decent two way #2C who has improved every year ever since getting over his Myocarditis. It's not a big stretch to see him as a high end #2C, or a #1C when he hits his prime. We'd be silly to trade that away for anything less than a better C, as Rossi's age and contract status are very favorable. Assuming that Heidt, Yurov, or Kumpulainen/Bankier are going to be top 6 C's is silly, especially in the near term.

BG would have to be getting back a player that makes us better now, as he has Kaprizov to convince to re-sign. Getting back Coyle, and a BOS 1st, while an interesting pkg, won't come close to getting that done. Kap won't give a damn that we have a 2025 top 10 pick of Rossi is gone, JEE is injured, and he is looking at Freddy Gaudreau or Ryan Hartman as his C. He is probably still having nightmares about Victor Rask.
