People don’t talk enough about how Trenin and his 1 point in 17 games have been
Unremarkable, then.

I guess I'll say more. He's been fine defensively, IMO, but his wrists seem made of stone. I like his ability to bully other players, but other than that he's been a 4th liner, IMO; a guy who won't hurt you, but also won't help you except on the PK. As f7ben said earlier today, probably more worth 2 years and $2M AAV rather than 4x$4M.

I see a guy who plays how Marcus Foligno did when he first joined the Wild. I hope he turns a corner like Foligno did.

Rossi: 14 points, +6 (same as Zucc)
Hartman: 4 points, -3

Is Hartman better on the PP, since he's on the 1st unit?
Or maybe Hynes just doesn't like Rossi, then the trade rumors are still alive.

Not sure what the logic is. If they feel they need a decent shot on the PP there, that's fine. If they wanted to replace Zuccarello's game, Rossi is probably the closest match on the team.

Truthfully, in this case, I try to believe it's because Rossi is actually capable of running a PP, and no one else on the second unit would be otherwise

Way too top-heavy of a 1st line.

They probably beat Dallas if they go top heavy last game. Rest of the lines are strong enough defensively to hold their own as long as the goaltending continues to be strong, and the top line will score enough to win.

We cannot go a month being a 1 line offensive team while waiting for Zucc to return. It might work for a couple games.

They need to find two players to make this sequence work.

Hartman is one, Johansson is most decidedly not

I don't really anticipate him being the solution, but Boyd has experience playing with Schmaltz and Keller, and it wasn't a complete disaster, I would at least try that

It's so funny that the simplest PP solution with Zucc out would be to slide Rossi into that spot since he plays the exact same spot on the 2nd unit.

Kap - Hartman
Boldy - Eriksson-Ek - Johansson
Foligno - Rossi - Trenin

Call Ohgren back up and have him be the other wing for Kaprizov and Hartman or trade Wallstedt + for a winger.

Honestly, they probably can given how Gus Bus and Kaprizov have played, and how dominant the Boldy-JEE-Kaprizov line tends to be.

They tried Rossi-Johansson last season - it didn't work. So I'm not to optimistic about this "reunion". To bad they've sent down Ohgren.

My lines would be:

Kap - Rossi - Boldy
Ohgren - Ek - Hartman
Foligno - Khus - Lauko
Johansson - Gaudreau - Trenin

This would be the logical solution too but I guess Hynes just hates Rossi - it's obvious.

I don't understand why you're hellbent on keeping Rossi with Foligno and Trenin. Even the coach is over that.

Mojo's continued run in the top 6 is a complete mystery to me.

I also don't understand what sending Milne down is all about after him getting a while 6 1/2 minutes of playing time. I would get it if they didn't need forwards, but calling up two more AHL forwards in place after Ohgren and Milne get one game ... did they sneak out after bedcheck? Prank the wrong guy?

Because Hartman and Kaprizov have good chemistry together and provides some physical presence on the top 6. Eriksson-Ek and Boldy have a lot of chemistry together.

Hartman has been playing RW all season, he can continue that with Rossi at center on the top line.

Gaudreau has been good on the line with Foligno, and Marat is a capable 4C.

Kaprizov-Rossi-Hartman
whoever-Ek-Boldy
whoever-Gaudreau-Foligno
whoever-Marat-whoever

There is zero reason to stick Rossi with Foligno on the third line, all it does is limit what Rossi can do and forces a worse player onto the top line with Kaprizov
