Kind of like Myers would be signing for the Wild for two years.

Ben Meyers? I don't think it was ever speculated that Ben Meyers would forego signing with the team that drafted him so he could sign closer to home.

He was rumored to the Wild his final two years. A certainty.

Point is, rumor of something and what actually happens when a player has options is two different things.

I don't remember those.
Cool. They thought they had him signed and he decided to go back thinking it was a done deal after his final year. This is all very easily found in the articles around his availability and signing with the Avs.

Please, do provide. I remember the Wild being in on him. I don't remember it being considered a certainty that he'd sign with the Wild.

Kings fans seemed to think it was probably happening when the trade went down. Of course it's not going to happen 100% of the time, but it's not exactly far-fetched (Sammy Walker is currently on the roster) considering LA's RD situation.

Kinda weird how the Wild always seem to get the unfavorable draw every year, isn't it? Almost like it has something to do with the Wild and not being good enough, as opposed to getting the unfavorable draw.

I didn't see anyone making a big deal about it in previous years, its just a strange format with obvious flaws that many people point out.

I think it might help you guys to know that the views discussed here are simply opinions of the posters that share them, none of them have any actual bearing on who gets fired or traded in any given season.

If someone wishes Dean Evason would be relieved of his duties in 2021, and then still believes that in 2022, it's just their opinion that hasn't changed. It's not that they're writing letters to the owner demanding those changes, certainly those people don't have any say in the matter. Rest easy.

I don't think anyone needs this pointed out but ok.

Truth be told, it would be a shame if one of these cap hell years didn't end up producing a tippy top draft pick.

I like Sammy Walker , the kid has an awesome motor. He’s got speed and some skill and a knack for creativity and offense. I’d assume Billy and the Cop absolutely f***ing hate him.

Yup, because everything points to that.
Promoting him from the AHL in his first year pro. Giving him a spot in the Top 6/9 (depends on how you view the lines).

Those are sure signs they hate the kid....

For what? Dewar has been amazing in his role at 4C, PK, etc. Walker seems more suited for a middle 6 role. Weird comparison.
Your answer still somewhat confirmed my thought; I just like Walker over Dewar is all. I always see Dewar missing his shots not the times he scores lol.

Exactly. Dewar is terrific in his own way- lotta value there at his cap hit. If Gaudreau gets too expensive to re-sign, then he will be asked to assume his position as #3C. His game is pretty similar to Gaudreau's actually.

Walker has the chance to be more of a high octane offensive player. While be can play C, i think they will be looking for him to a be a RW. Dewar is probably a better all round player, and , weird to say for a guy who is probably under 5'10", tougher than Walker, though Sammy can get a bit nasty at times. He needs to get stronger/heavier, though I am not sure he can.

Hopefully, now that he has got his goal out of the way, he relaxes and starts producing. He is in a vg situation playing with Boldy and Gaudreau.

I don’t think it’s an overestimation. Gus has been playing better than MAF, but he’s still a RFA so I gave him $1M less. Addison is on pace for over 40 points. $3M almost seems like a steal if he’s capable of more. What do you see them getting?

I hope they keep Gus and split him with Wallstedt in two seasons. He’s been a pleasant surprise.
$2-$2.5M x 2 for Addison is what I’d go, his offensive production has slowed since the beginning of the year. I think going anymore on Addison is unnecessary for a 1st year rookie defenseman who is on pace for 10 even-strength points and doesn’t bring much defensive value (yet).

Fleury has to retire or Gus has to be traded is my opinion. Team can’t afford $6M tied up in goaltending if the cap only increases $1M, which is why I still don’t understand the Fleury contract. I’m sure the return on Gus would be pretty solid if he keeps this play up, but I would prefer a Gus - Wallstedt tandem at this point.

It was just a weird comparison in my head lol. It’d be like taking Boldy over Eriksson Ek. Two very different styles/roles for similar level players

Wallstedt is not ready for the NHL at this point. MacIntyre is better right now. I don't know if he would be able to be a NHL backup, but he is certainly a better choice than Wallstedt right now.

Gustavsson's progress certainly is encouraging. Trading him, if he continues the way he has recently, would be madness, IMO. He looks like a legit NHL starter right now.

We’ve seen a 4% increase in PP conversion percentage with Addison so far and he’s getting better with time at other aspects (defense). $2M feels like lowballing. He’s a guy we need with Dumba leaving as well.

Wallstedt needs another year of starting in the AHL. He’s good, but let’s continue his development the right way. Fleury’s got one year left, then let the kids run the net.

It’s gonna be tight. They might need to bridge Boldy at $4-5M, especially if they are going to re-sign Gaudreau around $3M.

Walker starting to produce would be huge for this team and he’s probably the closest winger prospect in Iowa to Fiala’s style of play.

This I can confirm w/o a doubt, but it's not like there is a lot of competition in Iowa. Beckman is the closest, I guess. He is almost two years younger than Walker, and over 3 years younger than Steel, so there's still hope that he will develop into something.

Fiala is a special player- there simply aren't a lot of players like him lying around.

Kind of hate our position right now. We are gonna pass wpg. No doubt in my mind.

Colorado is likely going to get healthy, and pass wpg.

That puts us head on with the defending cup champs

The Stars have been incredibly healthy so far this year. Their top 17 skaters have missed a combined 9 games. They are 6p ahead of MN, but MN has 3 games in hand.

On the flip side COL can't seem to get healthy. I think they are the best team in the Division, but the injuries have cost them standing points.

I think the Jets drop out. I think DAL falls off some. COL should move up. NSH will just continue to grind out games into OT. STL just doesn't seem to have it this year, and they are pretty banged up. AZ and CHI are tanking. I still don't know where to put MN in the Division. I can see anywhere from 1st to 5th.
