Zucker is playing very well and has a history in Minny. He is not a cap dump and I think Guerin would take a 60 point winger and a decent pick here. If you think with a tight cap Guerin can make the kind of deals that favor him with prospects and picks it isn't happening. Now can Buffalo offer something with cap space yes. But most teams adding will need to send a player back.

He is a pending UFA. He has ZERO value to the Wild. Why would they trade guys that could get them picks and prospects for 30 games of Jason Zucker? It makes no sense

Teams looking to add have little cap space. Minny will find trading these guys for just picks and prospects difficult since most of the contenders have little room here. Guerin will in all probability take back a contract. He could do worse than Zucker. Zucker can be signed as a UFA and has I believe family there.

None of those pieces are going to return anything substantial. Outside of Kaprizov and Boldy who aren't for sale, who's even interesting? Brodin and EE probably the only ones.
I think a fair amount of those guys would return some decent value. Zuccarello would get a 1st+ if we moved him. Foligno probably would get a 1st from a stupid GM even though he’s not worth one. Greenway has value. Hartman would’ve gone for a haul if we had traded him this offseason. Who knows what he’d get now but he’s still on a dog deal for a contender. I think Addison could get moved this offseason.

Foligno would be wanted by about half the playoff teams
Hartman is half a season removed from 65 points for 1.7M
Middleton brings the "toughness" every GM seems to love and can play good minutes if needed
Addison is a 22 year old rookie RD who can already QB a PP and will only improve from here
Zuccarello is an experienced top six scoring winger, and by some accounts, a good leader

I really don't understand what you're getting at when you say none of them are interesting. None of them are Horvat or Meier, sure, but guys exactly like these get moved around every deadline because playoff teams covet them. No one ever said they were all gonna bring back 1sts or top prospects. 2nds, 3rds, mid level prospects, they're all fine. If you're not interested in them though, why are you here?
If you value that kinda thing

The big problem you're going to run into w/r/t deadline deals is term - folks are generally looking for rentals, not extended commitments.
There a whole subset of teams who will only move significant assests if it’s not for a rental though lol

Yeah that was kinda questionable.
In all the trade proposals from Minny my first question was always, why the hell trading him?
There must have been better options to trade or waive if salary cap was the issue
If you go back to any pre-trade discussion that involved Wild fans, we all though our GM was wildly dumb for considering it. Fiala is the type of players that’s hard to find. Should’ve locked him up and sold high on guys who are replaceable.

Minnesota has ample deadline cap space to either retain on contracts they're sending out, take expiring contracts back, or both. So the Penguins could send Zucker back if that's the easiest way to make the cap fit, but he wouldn't be considered a substantial part of the deal on Minnesota's end.

If Minnesota sells does it start with Dumba, who could surely net a 1st round pick at the deadline?

Secondly why does Minnesota sell when they are still in a playoff spot?

Is Calgary that daunting? Nashville? Colorado is still only a loss away from handing the Wild 3rd place in the Central...and they are struggling too since returning from the break.

There's still time, and we're going the wrong way with no real answer as to how to fix it. We might not be "sellers" today, but it doesn't take much to imagine a near future where we would be.

All those forwards are interesting and attractive to Toronto at different levels

Is there any approximate return level for those guys that you'd expect

Like for Foligno a 2nd + B prospect (can be higher or lower than this just using an example)?

Greenway 2nd/3rd
Foligno late 1st (or keep)
Hartman late 1st (or keep)
Gaudreau 2nd
Steel 4th/5th
Reaves 4th/5th

Like who?
To be determined, but the Bruins should not trade it for the sake of trading it. Hartman is a typical 10-15 goal scorer, last season was a clear outlier. Not the Bruins need if the price includes a 1st round pick.

The Bruins need size and power as a middle six option to ensure Smith does not play another minute even with injuries.

If the Wild are selling off veterans, which is the premise of this thread, Zucc is for sale.

If the Wild blow it up, they're not keeping 36 year old Zucc. He'd be the first guy I would move because he's one of our highest salaries and would return the most.
If the Wild blow it up, I'd like to have a camera on the person who tells 25 year old Kaprizov, that the next 3 years or so of his prime will be wasted on rebuilding.

Do you think that those same 3 years are going to be maximized playing with a sub-$70 million salary cap?

Montreal's second (~35) seems too steep for a guy with Greenway's production/cap hit.

An early 2023 3rd and 4th?
Yeah I mean I wouldn’t be mad about it.

I wish Dumba could get a 1st.

Gaudreau+Greenway for Bleuger+Kapanen?
To what point? We just replace some bottom six guys with other bottom six guys. Doesn't help our cap, doesn't help us get better this season, doesn't help us get better in the future.

Greenway is a bit like Anderson , dosen't loook good on papers but he brings soo much more on the ice.
I would give Habs 2nd + Mysak or Struble + Hoffman easy
