To Montreal:

Matt Dumba
Sam Steel
2023 2nd round pick

To Minnesota:

Christian Dvorak
Joel Edmundson
Sean Farrell
I can't see either team being interested.
Both teams can get better value dealing their players elsewhere.

Dvorak is producing at a top 64 rate and it's certainly not because of his linemates.

He's currently ranked 103rd in production from centers. The 33 points he's pacing for this year would have been 91st in a full season last year.

No need to be so upset. You got your answer. None of the Wild fans in here would pay Gaudreau 4.5M like you were hoping we would.

And the term "middle 6 center" really should be reserved for guys who can actually play 2C, not guys who can only play 3C.
Your statement is a distortion.

I definitely don't want to trade Farrell...especially as part of trade for that return, so big no from me.

Farrell won't be included in any trade.

The guy has top 6 written all over him but as a former 4th round pick, doesn't have value up to his real hockey worth.

This deal makes no sense for neither team, sorry.

Whoever pays Gaudreau $4.5M is going to regret it instantly. The dude is worth $2M maybe $2.5M on a 2-3 year deal. Anyone that watches him regularly, instead of stat watching, can verify this.
You're out of touch with values on players. If a player like Sturm gets 2.25M as a FA in 2022, then Gaudreau gets about 3.5M+ in 2023, when the cap is going up.

BAD trade for MN. It saddles them with an extra 8M in cap hits they can't afford going into next year and beyond, for players that don't add much, if anything, on the ice. MTL, meanwhile dumps ALL of their cap for next year. Farrell and 2nd rounder cancel each other out . Doesn't seem fair, does it, especially considering that MN is the one team in the NHL that is facing a 15M cap penalty in each of the next two years?

One of Dvorak or Monahan can be traded. We have our price and if you don't want to pay it, I don't care. We are getting more than just 2nd rounders for each of them.

We will consider Monahan at 50% retention yeah but that is a deadline conversation. We will retain one of them to have depth after Suzuki during our transition years. If the offers are low on Monahan and he wants to stay in Montreal, we will retain him and trade Dvorak instead. You can pretend Dvorak is a cap dump all you want

Two 2nd rounders and a B+ prospect for a center who is on a fair contract with term is not a far reach. Probability is those 2nd rounders and prospect may not be as good as him. Masar and Heineman for Toffoli for example?
I don’t know if Dvorak is a dump or not. I do know his value is meager. I’m certain of that. So asking for several 2nds and a prospect him is outrageous. It’s absurd and demonstrates your gross misevaluation of his contract.

There are zero NHL teams that would offer anything close to two 2nds and a good prospect for Dvorak.

I'm not averse to Dvorak, but Edmundson isn't needed with Brodin, Middleton, Goligoski and Merrill all under contract as LDs next season.

Not sure why Montreal would trade him, unless it's strictly to clear cap, since they don't really have anything at that position behind Suzuki.

I’m not giving Gaudreau anything close to $4M. That’s ridiculous.

Another Edmundson trade proposal.

Dvorak and Edmundson are on the 10 most likely to get traded list.

If someone is dumb enough to pay that price, more power to you guys. Hell, you guys paid a 1st and a 2nd for him, so I know those kind of people are out there.
Thankfully for Montreal Bergevin isn't. If La needed a centre maybe he could've talked Blake into taking him.
