Dumba is a UFA. Why Habs want him?

This is really bad for the habs.
Not the kind of trade Minnesota would be looking for. Dvorak might be of interest, but I’d rather trade Dumba at 50% to a contender for their 1st at the TDL.

It don't work for either team from what I see. Habs may retain Monahan so Dvorak may be available at a reasonable price.
Dvorak for two 2nd rounders and a B+ prospect would get the conversation started if you want to avoid trading a 1st. Habs can possibly include a B prospect like Norlinder going the other way. Doubt the Habs trade Dvorak for just a 2nd rounder

Lolz. You must be high or joking. Habs badly overpaid for this guy. He’s an overpaid 3C on a lamentable contract.
Retain 50% and trade Monahan. That will fetch ya something decent.
Drouin, Dvorak, Hoffman, Gallagher, Dadanov…. No trade value on any of them.

Dvorak has no value, to MN, anyway. They have two centers, Hartman and Gaudreau, who are not only better, but make 2.9M combined per year, not Dvorak's 4.5M.
There was some noise about Dvorak around here a few years ago, but time has shown that he has ultimately been a disappointing player, and was overrated by many. The other players are of zero interest.

One of Dvorak or Monahan can be traded. We have our price and if you don't want to pay it, I don't care. We are getting more than just 2nd rounders for each of them.
We will consider Monahan at 50% retention yeah but that is a deadline conversation. We will retain one of them to have depth after Suzuki during our transition years. If the offers are low on Monahan and he wants to stay in Montreal, we will retain him and trade Dvorak instead. You can pretend Dvorak is a cap dump all you want
Two 2nd rounders and a B+ prospect for a center who is on a fair contract with term is not a far reach. Probability is those 2nd rounders and prospect may not be as good as him. Masar and Heineman for Toffoli for example?
Dvorak doesn't belong in that group, but how could you know.... you don't watch habs games
I'm not sure either are so much better individually, but they get to play with better wingers, specially Hartman. Dvorak probable have more value to us anyway...

NHL GM's send scouts to watch games. Fans don't even watch the games on TV but will act like they know facts on how players are trending.
Grouping Dvorak with the others clearly shows he don't know how they are playing. Quick, go check out their stats

Dvorak has value but if the Wild don't like him, we won't force the issue. However, if there are devalue narratives, don't be offended or get caught in a knot if Habs defend his value.
Dvorak is very good 3C that does all the boring stuff very well. Could play 2C but that's not his ideal spot. He has value but it won't return a 1st. More like two 2nd's and a B+ prospect. Yes, the price is not low for the above average 3C on a good contract with term.
Dvorak with MSL as our coach (Feb 10 of last year):
* 47 games
* 9 goals and 27 points (prorated to 16 goals and 47 pts)
* 56.3 faceoff winning % (673 faceoffs... 14 faceoffs/game)
* 65% of defensive zone starts and his +/- is better than Suzuki

Likely but he has 5 RFA years left so that will be a factor. If it's a 8 year term, I would expect the AAV to fall around Suzuki's cap hit.. just under $8M.
8 year term would be 5 RFA years and 3 UFA years purchased. Hintz just got $8.45M for 8 years but that was one RFA year and 7 UFA years.
Yeah we get that and this is just not a trade either team makes.

Montreal can deal Dumba or Edmundson at the deadline for similar value, no? Especially if cap is retained. Dvorak can be traded at the deadline if they wanted to move him for a pick.. None of this really makes sense. It's like trading players only to trade a player coming back.
Minnesota doesn't even consider this at all. They aren't trading dumba, their okay current 1c, and 2nd round pick for what? Long term ld Minnesota has zero need for, bottom line expensive C on Christian Dvorak and nobody. Minnesota says no

It's almost as bad as suggesting Dvorak is worth "two 2nds and a B+ prospect", so I just assumed we were glossing over all of it in the name of civility.
