Confirmed Trade: [MIN/CBJ] David Jiricek, 2025 5th round pick for Daemon Hunt, 2025 1st round pick, 2027 2nd round pick, 2026 3rd and 4th round picks

Makes you wonder what the behind the scenes talks are. If this has Walsh's fingerprints all over it Jiricek needs to move on. Is Walsh fighting for NHL pay for his client? That would be tripping over dollars to pick up pennies, way too short sighted
Might not be any more complicated than Hynes not wanting to sit the vet (Bogosian) and Bogosian not wanting to or able to play his off-side.

To me I'd expect the 2 biggest possibilities is what I said. He has a yes man agent and grew up being significantly better than his peers so suddenly being a step behind may have been a shock to him and he's still needing to adjust his mentality.

The 2nd could be the NHL teams want to monitor and be closely involved with him on and off the ice. He's an incredible talent but has very noticeable flaws that he hasn't really improved yet. 2 teams have taken the same approach with him now so I don't think it's nothing

I have to say, yet again, that Jiricek's biggest gains are going to come from the gym and from on ice training, not game time. So if Minnesota has a good plan for him and are using this time to work on those points, then this is great, potentially even better than playing him a heavy schedule of games. But if they're just keeping him on stand by, then never mind.

Maybe you're not a Wild fan, but do you, or anyone know why he's sitting and not at least sent down to Iowa ?
No and I was totally fine with him playing out season in AHL. I have no idea what this is. but this is the second time it's happened. So even I'm wondering if he's a lazy asshole at this point!lol

But I honestly have no idea why not ship him to the AHL? If it is off ice training and getting him a bigger salary then fine but I maintain that young players need to play and he isn't.

I saw Jiricek a few times in person this year - not impressed. He got rocked by a nobody on that dudes first AHL shift and man handled in a fight by 5' 10" Samuel Savoie.

IF he sticks in the NHL, it'll be in a few years...IMO, he's got a loooong way to go. I think he's trending toward bustville. He ain't there yet, but he's got ticket to ride.

I don’t care about how Jiricek fights or if he has a little trouble early on in his career with physicality. Minnesota traded for him because of his skill and upside long term.

Jiricek looked great for Minnesota when he did play this year. Our coach seems to be a guy more interested in playing Bogosian than Jiricek while we struggle to put up any sort of offense. Makes no sense unless the whole point is to have him with Andy Ness for a few weeks… Iowa isn’t a glowing endorsement of development either.

All these recent comments are pretty much what was asked, answered, mused, discussed by CBJ fans earlier in this thread. There has to be something with the agent that is driving his time in the NHL (or else?). CBJ tried to placate him keeping him in the NHL but he was unable to beat out the likes of Jake Christiansen, Jack Johnson and Jordan Harris. He has so many tools, just doesn't consistently show them. I hope he pulls it together, but this is certainly an odd situation. Now in two organizations.

It's in Czech but the google translate works quite well. Just a speculative article.

The fact this has happened twice is insane to me.lol I was fine with AHL. My guess is that he doesn't get in any games in Minnesota, gets an offer for World's with Czech team but they send him to Calder Cup instead.

The dream was NHL, playoffs and then maybe World's if Minny bowed out in round 1.
My second dream was AHL till end then worlds.
My nightmare is he sits, does not play real games anywhere and then isn't available to play real games at world's either... looks like that is where we are trending.

I will say.. Spacek's Dad mentioned that Iowa is not a great farm system but I have no idea if it is or isn't.

hmmm...no idea how playoffs work for AHL though. Does everyone make it? I'll add my next nightmare would be keeping him as a dark ace and not letting him go to the world's either. Basically, I've given up on his NHL season and want him at the Worlds.lol

Hell of a punch for sure. FTR.. i could care less if Jiricek ever fought again and hope Minny didn't think they traded for Big Buff!

Depends on the division. In the Central it is 5 of 7 teams, so both Iowa and Manitoba are out. Could get him for the Worlds if Minnesota folds in 1st round. NHL playoffs start April 19th. Worlds start May 9?

Their branding is awesome. I have a shirt

This is the same story for Jiricek on two teams, three front offices. Dude needs to get his shit together or his career will be over before it began.

Thanks.

Yeah, we'll see. My up to date guess is that he is in pressbox for the Wild playoff run. Just kind of eating nachos.lol

I didn't say Jiricek's Dad said it. I said Spacek's Dad and Spacek is on the Wild too!

And, currently, it does look like jiricek will be winning a cup! The Spengler Cup.lol

A lot has happened in a relatively short period of time, next year should be a better predictor of Jiricek's development ( even less so his entire career ) outlook. I'm sure this year will have an impact on him; hopefully positive.

Something is starting to be fishy with this kid.

I never bought into the attitude issues, but it really seems like he's asking to not play in the AHL or something.

This is where I at, this year has been messy and even what mn is doing with him is strange. Next year will tell us something but it could be 2 or 3 years before we know what he is.

Ahl numbers haven't been great but he has not looked out of place in a handful of games with the wild. I think he just needs time and experience, which is hard to come by riding pine.

Hopefully he can be patient because Spurgeon and Bogo are old so nhl minutes are very near.

The rumor is that Minnesota didn't want to burn another call up and Jiricek got the short end of the stick. They already called up Gaunce and Shore, Jiricek is the 3rd and they would have a fourth. With Brodin hurt, Minnesota didn't have a full roster. With Brodin back, more than likely Jiricek will be back in the AHL.
Also Bogo and Merrill have been playing okay, so...
