Can't say that I've watched alot his play, but giving up this early on a young RD seems strange considering it generally takes considerably longer than 2 years for them to develop.

Don’t blame current Columbus management. The kids probably a bust and they know it. He was an inherited player.

I also wouldn't blame the former management on the pick. I don't recall anyone panning it at the time or even the following season.

He may not be known for it yet, but his track record says he should be, and maybe the year he is having in Columbus finally gets him the recognition for the great job he does with young players. Russo yesterday posted that Bracket thinks Jiricek would go to-10 in a re-draft. It's a delusional take, but it aligns with why they were willing to give up what they did. Maybe the simple reason why it doesn't make sense is because management doesn't have it.

Even Jiricek turns into a good, not great player I don't think Columbus regrets this. They got like a whole draft class of picks. Only way they regret it is if he turns into a star, which is still possible of course.

I am (was?) A huge fan of Jiri...thought he would be a 1 RD for CBJ, he needed and was asked to gain muscle and strength...he did not for 2 years...if Minny can get him to buy in to it, great on them...
