MTL 2nd just about equal value to MN 1stMontreal can't trade their 1st round pick. We are not contending like the Wild.

I recommended the Flyers offer Farabee, Zamula, and the Jackets 2nd back (which is almost a late 1st) and I was laughed at. It would have been a better deal for Columbus and I can't believe Briere wasn't willing to offer it tbh.I bet some teams offered a first, but all the +++ got it done. But yeah, something is up to have his value drop. I bet it's his skating. Not so much speed but his balance. Dude keeps falling down.
hope its really significant. with any luck Buium is gonna be Faber-esque and get an extension as fast as possible so we had better plan on that too.Sure - but the Cap is also going up significantly.
Nah I’ll remain a hater.Seravalli haters eat crow.
Columbus has not had it easy.we only shit on them because we had higher expectations for his value. I think we both may be wrong in the end. But I do hope for the best.
Like making change for a dollar, who knows where these picks end up. I think most CBJ fans feel pretty run over this year. And the changes keep on coming. Looking less like a Jarmo team and more a Waddell team. Good news for CBJ though, the team is looking better than it has in years and Jiricek wasnt part of that, so his departure has little to no consequences on the team.
I always love the other fans coming in saying I can't believe x didn't match that.I recommended the Flyers offer Farabee, Zamula, and the Jackets 2nd back (which is almost a late 1st) and I was laughed at. A 50/50 shot at getting a really good, cost controlled player for the prime of his career is insane though. Much better than what will probably be a late 1st and the Wild's 8th-10th best prospect, according to this MCKEEN’S 2024-25 NHL YEARBOOK – MINNESOTA WILD – Top 15 Prospect Profiles – Organizational Rank #8from Pre Jiricek, the 6th OA have been:
Edvinsson
Drysdale
Seider
Zadina
Glass
Tkachuk (more Van taking Juolevi at 5)
Zacha
Virtanen
Monahan
Lindholm
Zib
Connelly
About half of the prior 13 picks didn’t amount to their draft position.
He skates well, just awkward out there. I'm guessing it's more mental, but I think he will eventually figure it out as he matures. But I am wondering now considering the return.Minnesota has a great skating coach in Andy Ness...and one of the better skating bluelines currently. Im sure the Wild are confident they can both turn him into a better skater and cover for him while he learns.
I wouldn't go as high as 50/50 of him being really good in the NHL. BUT, if I'm Guerin I take this gamble all day. Already have a good young team and farm. Might as well swing for the fences.A 50/50 shot at getting a really good, cost controlled player for the prime of his career is insane though. Same here. I guess they wanted a 1st and we couldn’t offer any 1sts before 2028 and even guys like Musty/Mukh were off limits? Otherwise, I think we could beat this with Musty or Mukh + a 2nd/3rd?Not a bad move for Wild imo... i like it
thought the sharks would be all over this
Player has to be natural out there. Can’t be thinking about their stride. Thus skating is something that drafted kids need to fix in the 2-4 years post draft. So much happening fast out there where the brain needs to read and react. Distance between the puck carrier, speed of the puck carrier, passing lanes, etc. need skating to be second nature. So, he’d better fix that fast.He skates well, just awkward out there. I'm guessing it's more mental, but I think he will eventually figure it out as he matures. Either way, it's on him now. Good skating coaches, successful team, good management. He's in a good situation in Minny.
Sounds like MIN agree his skating needs work but they're less worried about it than they would be given the great skaters we already have up or in the system. Counting on them to cover if he makes a bad read.He skates well, just awkward out there. I'm guessing it's more mental, but I think he will eventually figure it out as he matures. Right now? No. He definitely can be though. Is Jiricek a decent defender, at least? I get(and don't like), that he is a mediocre skater.
At least he has two of the best RHD to look up to in Faber and Spurgeon. Also a cautionary tale in Bogosian... a former very high draft pick who pissed away a of of his career.
Hard agree. Not even sure how they come up with these numbers. This kinda pseudo-analytic junk never impresses me much.
