Woo hoo! Get to do another GDT! I unfortunately missed most of the game as I was coaching, but I'm glad the breaks finally went our way. I really feel as though this team has deserved better than they have been getting over the last 2 weeks. And sweet poetic justice that Patty undressed Miller in the shootout. Only would've been sweeter if it was Henrique that did it.

If politics is really a concern then it is going to cost us points moving forward. Salvador has been directly responsible for several goals in the past few games.

Yeah, because simply benching Salvador is going to fix all the problems this team has. It's magically going to make Kovy and Zajac start scoring, Marty return from injury, Zubrus will be back, and the 6 defenders that they do ice will be perfect and never blow coverage.

Clearly benching Salvador is the answer to those problems... Come on now, sometimes you have to weather a little storm to get to the port. It's not always clear sailing.

I'll defend Sal to the death, but know that he needs to step it up. A lot of people are focusing on the 2nd Sabres goal, but I thought the first one may have been even worse. His coverage was so poor on the PK, he should never be as high on the sideboards as he was. It left Patty all alone in the slot trying to save face on Vanek.

I think people forgot how awesome Harrold was in the playoffs, including the coaching staff. Hopefully tonight opened their eyes. It is great having a D man with a set of wheels. Greene - Larsson Zidlicky - Salvador Harrold - Fayne Those would be my pairings right now.

im with you here

I feel like some people (you included) say things that I say, but you say them eloquently with proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. plus you tend not to insert wacky references and veer off topic. I'd be interested in resetting my hfboards 'profile' and trying to write that like instead. I wonder how long I would last before I broke down and compared our defensive prospects to herpes or referenced a circus fire.

ironically, that’s my roundabout way of saying I absolutely, 100% agree.

The only bad seat at the Rock are the upper corners, other than that there truly is not a bad seat in the house.

Just watched the game though. I wish it was Henrique who had sealed the deal in the SO but that feels awesome to completely fake out Miller for the win. A win! Finally!

My season tix the first year were in 229 row 2 on the aisle..the safety bar went right thru the goal. I hated them hard to see..moved to 107 row 3..loved them. I like the low row balconies alot better then the mezz, My only complaint is being 6 2 220 the seats in the 200 are very small...especially if your sitting next to someone who is of larger stature.

The one thing I loathe about jockey is that you can't scratch the captain, even if he's one of the worst players on the team. It's just so freakin' stupid.

You'd think in modern times we'd be past crap line that.

Sal has just been so bad. I'd rather play Fayne, Larsson, Harrold, even Tallinder over him. Sal and Volch are killing us.

Did Patty really refuse the 'C'?? Is there a source for this? Why would he refuse it?

Patty would be the perfect captain for this team.

After he got stripped for lack of a better word by Sutter when langs got it he said it was something he wouldnt want to do again and did not enjoy the whole experience.(Being stripped will do that) Bruce Driver actually said the same thing during his one year as captain. Some guys just dont want to be that official liaison between coach and team

Hopefully they turned the corner with that win...Hopefully.

This team needs a quality forward...Really if you look at the entire roster the ONLY highly skilled forwards the Devils have are Kovalchuk and Elias (Henrique maybe on his way). I would love to see a pure goal scorer added to the top 6. Doesn't have to be a "world beater" that scores 40 or 50 goals but someone who just knows how to put the puck in the net.

Something I've been wanting to say for a while: I think Zidlicky takes far too much crap on these boards...Sometimes I think some of our fans are schizophrenic..This board complained about not having a PMD for years...You finally got one, and a good one and we pick apart every single deficiency in his game. It doesn't make sense. Zicklicky, in his role has done a very good job. As a matter of fact he has been one of the bright spots of the team this season. He moves the puck better than anybody on the team except for Kovalchuk and he creates opportunities every game. That is what he is there for.

Another bright spot on this team is Steve Bernier. I absolutely love the way he has been playing this season and his confidence continues to grow. I get the feeling that he has a lot more to offer this team in a more expanded role. I think Bernier has the ability to complement more talented forwards if given the opportunity in a Zubrus kind of way. I think the Devils have some untapped ability with Bernier, it is hard to think that a 28 year old might still be developing but I think this particular player is still learning how to be consistent and what it means to pro.

:handclap: Excellent point on both players. I am extremely happy with Bernier and the role he is taking on for this team. I think he was rushed into the league as a high draft pick and, when the goals stopped and the trades kept coming, he got down on himself. I think he finally understands how he needs to play to be successful in this league and I am really glad that he has found that place here.

I've beaten the Zidlicky thing to death myself, the only thing I wish he would cut down on were the penalties. Otherwise, he is great at his role.

Bernier has shown skill this season I didn't know he had and if he could finish just a bit better he could have 12 goals. I personally think hes a solid 3rd line player and would like to see him moved up a bit maybe doing some of what Poni gets and does and totally agree on Zids..We want everyone to be Bobby Orr and I think people here would still nit pick Orr apart.

The thing about Zidlicky is that when he makes a mistake, it's done in such a gloriously mind-numbing fashion that he becomes a lightning rod for criticism. I agree that he's done very well in his role, and yeah he screws up from time to time, but it's much easier to be negative over one stupid play than it is to praise someone for resurrecting our defense overnight.

there are puck moving defensemen, and there are puck moving defensemen who are competent in their own end. zid is the former. he fills a need, but at a cost. it is what it is

Just rewatched the condened game and wow we really did dominate in this game after giving up the first goal. I feel better about this team today, I want Marty back before I am happy, but I feel better.

Yes, actually, you are right.

Elias was our best forward, and had been with the team for ages. Sal is one of our worst d-men and hasn't been here long. It's a joke to compare the two.

Elias was stripped just to humiliate him, Bryce needs to be stripped so our on-ice product can improve.

Absolutely nothing will solve all our problems. You solve one problem at a time. Sal has been a big problem, and that C is an albatross for the team.

Baby steps.
